Ipswich Town Women have signed Morocco international forward Rosella Ayane from Leicester City.

The 30-year-old has signed a one-year deal having spent a year with the Foxes in the WSL, where she has played for most of her career.

Reading-born Ayane came through the Chelsea academy, making her senior debut at the beginning of 2013/14.

Loan spells at Millwall, Bristol City and Everton followed before a move to Apollon Limassol in Cyprus.

After a second stint with the Robins, she joined Spurs ahead of 2019/20, spending six years with the North Londoners, netting 12 goals in 109 appearances and coming off the bench as they were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United in the 2024 Women’s FA Cup final.

Capped 35 times by Morocco, who she qualifies for through her father, scoring 11 times, Ayane played for England at U17 and U19 levels prior to switching allegiance.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Rosella to the club,” Town Women’s technical director Sean Burt said.

“She’s a player we identified early in the process as someone who could add real quality to the group, so we’re delighted to finally have her with us.

“Her ability to play across a number of positions in the front line gives us real versatility, while the wealth of experience she brings from both the domestic and international game will be invaluable to the squad.”

Ayane added: “I am really happy to join Ipswich. I think I can add some pace across the forward line and I love to make things happen in the final third. 

“When I played at Colchester last season I remember the atmosphere being really good and now I can’t wait to experience it as a home player.”

Town Women start their WSL2 season against Nottingham Forest at the JobServe Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
