Completion of Flemming Move Close
Tuesday, 1st Sep 2026 19:46

TWTD understands Town are closing in on the completion of the signing of Zian Flemming from Burnley.

After protracted negotiations, the clubs have agreed an overall package ultimately worth up to £20 million with £3 million in somewhat aspirational add-ons.

Flemming is currently undergoing his medical with the move expected to be completed before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

TWTD revealed this morning that Flemming was travelling to Suffolk for his medical and to complete the formalities relating to the switch with the clubs tying up the loose ends of the terms of the deal.

Those discussions have continued throughout the day with the deal now finally done and the player currently having his medical.

Flemming is set to become the 14th and final senior signing of the summer.

Aside from Chieo Ogbene's loan move to Lincoln City, which is expected to be confirmed later this evening, the Flemming move is the last movement of the transfer window. Earlier today, Cameron Humphreys and Tudor Mendel completed loan exits to Huddersfield and Luton respectively.

Alex Palmer, Anis Mehmeti and Jack Taylor remain at the club despite links with Championship sides.

Town have 27 senior players with veteran keeper David Button having been retained as a training keeper who may play for the U21s as an overage player and not included in the squad. Youngsters Abdoul Ouattara and Sindre Walle Egeli don't count towards the squad as they are under 21.

Flemming had been tipped for a move away from Turf Moor all summer following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship with Everton, Lille and Brentford having been linked.

The Dutchman joined the Lancastrians from Millwall in August 2024, initially on loan with the move made permanent for £7 million the following summer.

Last season, Amsterdam-born Flemming netted 12 times in total, 11 in the Premier League, and this term bagged three in his first two matches.

He started his career with hometown club Ajax, featuring for their reserves side before moving on to PEC Zwolle in 2018, spending time on loan at NEC before joining Fortuna Sittard in 2020, prior to his switch to Millwall two years later.

Think Tuanzebe is a free agent just a thought

Just watched Flemming's goals and action from last season. Of course, they choose the best bits, but he looks like a very committed, no-nonsense forward. Great shot and a good header of the ball. No messing around. Wham, Bang, Thank you Ma'am. Just what we need. I think he'll do well for us (provided we get him).

Is it time to submit a "deal sheet" ?

This allows both clubs extra time to complete the deal.

Are Burnley trying to find a replacement, is this the hold up ?

With the amount of money spent for this campaign I really hope O’Neil delivers!…relegation is an option!…running parallel with that let’s hope that the club have balanced their finances if things go south! Have to say I’m a little concerned…hopefully unduly!

No need for concern, there's plenty of PSR headroom Warktheline, is my understanding due to amortisation.

Lots of comments about a right back and Furlong.....gives away far too many free-kicks, feigns injury and throws himself onto the floor way too often for me.....can't afford to have a player like that out there.
Maybe GON & coaches can get him to focus on defending and he'd be ok.
A full-back + centre-forward are the crucial ones I think.
Fingers crossed for 10:59pm.

BBC transfer deadline page reports that Philogene has had a great attitude since the summer and looks likely to stay.

I’m sure it’ll get done - even if it’s not confirmed before 11. Deal sheet will go in…

No need for panic

I still find it surreal that we're spending multi million pounds on players, when I've watched the likes of Jordan Spence let in crosses into our box for fun...
