Town have completed the signing of Zian Flemming from Burnley, the 14th and final signing of the summer transfer window.

After protracted negotiations, the clubs agreed an overall package ultimately worth up to £20 million with £3 million in what we understand are somewhat aspirational add-ons.

TWTD revealed this morning that Flemming was travelling to Suffolk for his medical and to complete the formalities relating to the switch with the clubs tying up the loose ends of the terms of the deal.

Those discussions continued throughout the day with the deal finally done early this evening and the player, who has penned a four-year deal, then undergoing his medical.

“I am really proud to sign for Ipswich Town," Flemming told the club site.

“I played in the Premier League last season and really enjoyed my first season at the top level, competing against the best players and teams in the world, so I am delighted to now be back in there with a great club like Ipswich.

“I will give my all every time I step onto the pitch and can’t wait to meet the supporters. The first game is on Friday against Liverpool, which is very soon, and I am excited to get started.”

Manager Gary O'Neil added: “Zian is a player who had an impressive first season in the Premier League and we are very pleased to have brought him to the club.

“He has good quality and experience and has started the new season well, so is a great addition to the group as we strengthen the squad further.”

Flemming had been tipped for a move away from Turf Moor all summer following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship with Everton, Lille and Brentford having been linked.

The Dutchman joined the Lancastrians from Millwall in August 2024, initially on loan with the move made permanent for £7 million the following summer.

Last season, Amsterdam-born Flemming netted 12 times in total, 11 in the Premier League, and this term bagged three in his first two matches.

He started his career with hometown club Ajax, featuring for their reserves side before moving on to PEC Zwolle in 2018, spending time on loan at NEC before joining Fortuna Sittard in 2020, prior to his switch to Millwall two years later.

Flemming's signing brings to a close the most extravagant transfer window in the club's history with almost £190 million having been paid out for their 14 additions, all on a permanent basis with no incoming loans. No promoted club has spent more going into the Premier League, surpassing the £160 million paid out by Sunderland last summer.

Emersonn, the first signing of the window, set a new record for the highest fee the club has paid, an initial £24 million.

The window closes with Alex Palmer, Anis Mehmeti and Jack Taylor remaining at the club despite links with Championship sides, meaning the Blues have 28 first-team players.

The plan all summer has been for veteran keeper David Button not to be included in the squad, while Abdoul Ouattara and Sindre Walle Egeli don't count towards the squad as they are under 21, taking the total of senior players to the 25-man limit.
