Palacios First Town Player to Win Argentina Cap
Thursday, 1st Oct 2026 08:55

Midfielder Exequiel Palacios became the first Town player to represent Argentina overnight as the Albiceleste thrashed Bolivia 4-0 in a friendly in Cordoba.

Palacios played the first 81 minutes and assisted the second goal scored by Nico Paz with an inch-perfect pass as Lionel Scaloni’s side romped to victory. The 27-year-old was winning his 42nd full cap.

Further matches with Burkina Faso and Benin in Buenos Aires follow on Saturday and Tuesday of next week respectively. The latter will see Lionel Messi join the squad to play his final game in international football.

It was an excellent through-ball by Palacios.
That international honours board at Portman Road has certainly grown in names over recent years.

It would be nice if we could produce our own England international's like we did in the glory years but i fear those days have gone.

Couldn't agree more Linkboy. It's the one factor of the club's recent success that upsets me. Everything else is like being in a dreamworld
