The keeper situation at Town took another twist today has Paul Gerrard has denied making any comments regarding a move to Ipswich.

He was quoted as saying "It's all a bit up in the air at the moment but the thought of going back to Ipswich is certainly appealing. It would be like moving from one Premiership club to another".

He's now denied making those statements while commenting on the Everton website: "I haven't spoken to anyone about going back to Ipswich.

"Ipswich is a great club and I enjoyed my time there but at the moment all I am doing is concentrating on working hard for Everton.

"I have a year left on my contract and due to Richard picking up an injury over the summer, I could be handed a chance at the start of the season."

Meanwhile, Javier Sanchez Broto has described his disappointment at not impressing the Town boss: "My head was not really right. I'm a good goalkeeper but I never really showed it. I will return to Spain now and talk to my agent and see what happens. But for the moment I don't know what my future holds".

Lewis Price will wear the goalkeeper's jersey tonight against a Trelleborg XI side as Town complete their pre-season tour.
