Midfielder Jermaine Wright has been passed fit for the trip to West Brom. However, Town will be without Chris Makin (thigh), Tommy Miller (bruised knee bone) and Martijn Reuser (groin).

Wright, who impressed in the home loss to West Ham, is likely to play on the right of midfield with new boys Alan Mahon and Chris Bart-Williams on the left and in the centre respectively, skipper Jim Magilton making up the midfield four.

Martin Reuser is likely to be involved with the reserves against Chelsea at Aldershot on Monday while neither Makin nor Miller are expected to be on the sidelines for long. John McGreal is set to have a scan on his hamstring injury.

Joe Royle has confirmed that Pablo Couñago and Alun Armstrong will continue as the front pairing after doing well in the West Ham match. That means Darren Bent and Dean Bowditch will be on the bench.

West Brom have a slight worry over Jason Koumas, although the Welsh international is expected to be OK after picking up a minor niggle when away with Mark Hughes' side. Fellow Welshman Andy Johnson is likely to be involved despite his long-running feud with Town's Georges Santos.

The Baggies will be without Darren Moore and Michael Appleton who both have cruciate knee ligament injuries and are out of action for some while.

Saturday's referee is Chris Foy from St Helens who has sent off three players in three games so far this season. He last refereed Town when the Blues drew 2-2 at Sheffield United in August 1999.

Likely Town squad: Davis, Price, Wilnis, Richards, Diallo, Santos, Naylor, Westlake, Magilton, Wright, Bart-Williams, Mahon, Couñago, Armstrong, D Bent and Bowditch.
