Alan's Temporary Return
Alan's Temporary Return
Tuesday, 28th Oct 2003 12:15

On-loan midfielder Alan Mahon is set to be recalled by Blackburn Rovers - but only until he is over his hamstring injury.

Mahon will return to the Ewood Park club while he recovers but will then come back to Town to complete his 93-day loan spell - the longest period a player over 23-years-old can spend on loan with a Nationwide League side.

It is likely that Mahon will be back with the Blues by mid-December, in time to face Norwich City in the East Anglian derby at Portman Road on December 21st.

Mahon will return to action only a few weeks prior to the Premiership transfer window re-opening and Blackburn may be hopeful that he will impress a Premiership side willing to pay cash for his services.

The Blues want to take the winger to Portman Road permanently but will want to avoid paying a fee for the 25-year-old.

Mahon has one year of his contract with Blackburn remaining after this season, probably worth more than the Blues are likely to be able to offer him. Rovers are paying part of his wages while he is at Portman Road.
