A New ITFC Website
A New ITFC Website
Wednesday, 7th Apr 2004 14:16

Over the last couple of weeks a new website has been made available for supporters of Ipswich Town FC. For the first time ever we're making the TWTD fanzine available online so you can access the articles even if you can't make it to Portman Road. This is the main feature of the site but others include exclusive mobile phone coverage, a subscribers' only message board, an advert-free and reliable news email service and a TWTD archive among others.

In the last six months, our email service has been hit hard by the amount of unwanted emails flying around the internet. In the past we had used a third party to distribute our NewsNet emails but that company had become subject of a blanket ban meaning only a fraction of our emails were getting through due to no fault of our own. In order to fund our email service we had been running advertisements which some companies banned from getting to their employees. The solution of this is to send out a new copy of our emails, advert-free, direct from our server to your desktop and available to subscribers. This also means that you will get the emails much faster and more reliably in the future.

Our WAP site has been invaluable to those that have used it in the past and with the new generation of mobile phones giving better access to the internet, we'll enhance our service to include a new mini-site giving you more facilities than before to the mobile user. We're working on converting our fanzine to this format, as well as the latest news, statistics and interactive features all available via your mobile phone.

Something we're excited about here is our new TWTD archive that we are going to be building over the coming months. Starting from issue 1 back in 1990, we're going to be converting our back issues so they can be read again by a new audience. It'll grow into an interesting history of Ipswich Town starting with the sacking of John Duncan and into the John Lyall era, all told by the supporters of the Club.

Any interactive website has to have a message board but as this is a subscribers' only site, only supporters of ITFC should gain access to it. We're hoping that this will lead to a better quality of discussion without the childish banter from other clubs, just our own supporters!

This site is available free to existing subscribers of the fanzine. New subscriptions are available at £7.50 for 6 issues to those in the UK, £10 in Europe or £15 elsewhere. If you don't want the fanzine posted to you, an online-only subscription can be purchased for £6 a year which equates to only 50p per month. Credit cards can be used for payment, as can visiting us at the stall on match days, by posting a cheque or via the Sporting Bet offer. Visit the site for more details at www.twtdonline.co.uk.
