Former Town loanee Danny Karbassiyoon is reported to have been released by Arsenal. The 20-year-old made four starts and two sub appearances during his spell with the Blues between December and March.

The left-back joined Town after boss Joe Royle made an enquiry regarding fellow young Gunner Justin Hoyte, who had also been targeted during the summer.

Arsene Wenger was again unwilling to allow the England U21 international defender to leave Highbury but offered the Blues American Karbassiyoon instead.

A converted striker, Karbassiyoon made his Town debut in the Boxing Day defeat at Millwall and played in the games against Plymouth, Bolton, Coventry, Reading and Leicester.

The Blues had the offer of extending the Virginian's loan spell until the end of the season but declined, and it appears unlikely that Town will want to bring Karbassiyoon back to Portman Road.
