Davis Move Delayed
Davis Move Delayed

Keeper Kelvin Davis remains a Town player for one more day after a broken down plane prevented him from finalising his move to Sunderland. The 28-year-old was due at the Stadium of Light earlier today to undergo a medical and to sign his contract.

Davis told the club site: "It's not been the best day I've ever had. I'm on holiday with my family at the moment but was due to fly back to Britain today and travel to Sunderland to sort out the last few details.

"I got to Malaga airport to catch a flight at 10.00am but the plane broke down and I had to sit in the airport waiting for the problem to be solved.

"It got to around 6.00pm and that was enough for me. I'm back with my family and will stay overnight in Spain before, hopefully, catching a flight in the morning to Newcastle.

"It looks like everything will be finalised on Tuesday and I'll be signing for Sunderland then."

Davis's fee is reported to be £1.25 million, although it is not clear whether this is all payable now or is the ultimate total based on appearances and other top-ups.

The MK Dons - formerly Wimbledon - will receive an undisclosed percentage of the fee, an arrangement agreed when Davis joined the Blues on a free transfer from the Dons in 2003.
