Joe: No New Keeper
Joe: No New Keeper

Boss Joe Royle says he will not be targeting a new goalkeeper to replace Kelvin Davis after all. A new keeper seemed a certain addition to the Town squad over the summer but Royle now seems happy to put his faith in Lewis Price and Shane Supple.

Royle said: "We have made no approach at all for any goalkeeper, but there are no plans cast in stone.

"There is a school of thought that says 'Let the young lads have a go' and I am happy to go along with that.

"That way it would free up some of the money in our transfer budget to strengthen other areas of the squad."

The introduction of transfer windows next season appeared to make the recruitment of a new keeper inevitable, however, the Football League are set to relax the rules on loan signings and the Blues will almost certainly be allowed to bring in a short-term replacement should either keeper pick up an injury outside the two windows.
