Joe: Loan Unlikely

Town manager Joe Royle says that it is unlikely that a loan player will come in for the injured Sam Parkin. The striker will undergo surgery this evening on his broken ankle and faces up to four months on the sidelines.

The deadline for the Football League's so-called emergency loans (loans outside transfer windows) is Thursday at 5pm and Royle says there isn't time to complete a deal: "We have been making enquiries but I have to admit that it's looking unlikely now that we will have anyone in before January's transfer window.

"We have only 24 hours left before the deadline and, although I am still waiting for one call, it looks like we will work with who we have until the new year."

Dean Bowditch, who has admitted to being frustrated by his lack of opportunities, is likely to see this as a chance to win himself a regular place in the side, while loanee Adam Proudlock, currently out with a minor knee problem, will also be out to impress.

Youngsters Billy Clarke and Darryl Knights may also come into the reckoning at some stage, as will Dean McDonald when he completes his one-month loan at Hartlepool.
