Craig Makes Falkirk Debut

Released Town midfielder Liam Craig made his Falkirk debut on Saturday as the Bairns lost 4-1 at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Craig joined the SPL side earlier in the month on a deal to the end of the season after being told he would not be offered a professional contract at Town.

Craig, captain of the Blues' FA Youth Cup-winning side last season, came on in the 61st minute to make his senior debut.

The 19-year-old Scot says his move to Falkirk came very quickly after he was told he would be leaving Portman Road: " I got told a couple of weeks ago I didn't have a future at Ipswich and that was hard to take.

"It was not long before Falkirk came along and the move was more or less done and dusted in a few days.

"I thought Ipswich would offer me a deal after we won the FA Youth Cup but they did not and that is when the doubts started creeping into my mind.

"I have a lot of friends who were released at the same time and many of them do not have a future in the game, so when Falkirk came in I knew had to make the move quickly."

Despite his release, Craig says he doesn't regret his time at Town: "Ipswich was a fantastic place to learn your football and I would never badmouth the club.

"They had a great academy and I got the best coaching there. I hope that will stand me in good stead and help me get into the first team at Falkirk as I've never experienced that before. I've come here with a point to prove."

Aidan Collins, told of his Town exit at the same time as Craig, made his second appearance for loan club Wycombe Wanderers as they drew 0-0 at home to Barnet.

Gerard Nash played the second 90 minutes of his one-month loan spell at Hartlepool in their 1-1 draw at Swansea.
