TWTD Editor Phil Ham has failed in an audacious bid to succeed Bryan Hamilton as Norwich City manager. Ham felt that he was the ideal man to take the mantle from Hamilton and continue the excellent work the ex-Town player and manager had only really got started on.

Town's Worthington Cup semi-final second leg may be about to move due to worries over crowd trouble. According to Birmingham sources local police are unhappy that both Birmingham City and Aston Villa are playing matches on the same night with worries about hooliganism to the fore.

Town have been given roughly 3,000 tickets for the Chelsea game on January 20th. They are on sale to Portman Plus Gold card holders from 8th January and to Portman Plus holders, Blues Crew members and season ticket holders from 10th January. Any remaining tickets go on general sale from 15th January.

Titus Bramble will be banned for one game after receiving his fifth booking of the season against Sunderland. The Town centre-half was yellow-carded by referee Neale Barry for handling a corner into the Sunderland net from a first half corner. It is likely he will miss the Premiership game with Leicester a week on Sunday.

Broken leg victim Richard Naylor is nearing full fitness and is at an important stage of his recovery. The Yorkshireman will start running and will hope that he can get back in the running for a place soon.

A disastrous second half saw Town slump to their worst defeat since the 4-1 defeat in the QPR game in late 1999. The Blues had gone ahead in the fourth minute when Marcus Stewart ended a superb move and Town could have gone two-up when the ball ended up in the net from a corner. This was disallowed and Julio Arca scored an equaliser from a freekick. It was the second half however that was the real horror show for George Burley.

Devastating Town took a woeful Spurs side apart at Portman Road 3-0, but it could have been even more. Town took the lead through a Marcus Stewart goal in the 8th minute. Second half goals from Alun Armstrong and substitute Jamie Clapham sealed the result. But for a number of excellent saves from Neil Sullivan, the crossbar preventing James Scowcroft and a disallowed goal from Titus Bramble Town might have won by even more.

Town have denied that Manchester City have shown any interest in David Johnson. Town manager George Burley dismissed the newspaper claims saying: "The club has not received an offer for David Johnson."

Tabloid reports this morning claim that Manchester City have lodged a 'final take it or leave it' bid of £4 million for David Johnson. The stories which claim that Joe Royle has already increased an earlier bid of £3 million twice and that this is his final offer.
