Scales Linked With Town Tue 27th Jun 2000 11:21 Tottenham defender John Scales is being linked with a move to Town. The 33-year-old is also reportedly being tracked by Portsmouth, but a move to another Premiership side would certainly be attractive to a player who has suffered from injuries and a lack of first team football since his move from Liverpool. He has made just forty appearances for the White Hart Lane club and is available on a Bosman. Town may look to Scales to add Premiership experience to the defence. |

Scowy Expects Wright to Stay Mon 26th Jun 2000 14:28 James Scowcroft has stated that he expects keeper Richard Wright to still be at Portman Road come the new season. The England U21 striker said: "I’m confident that Richard Wright will be with us next season. Everyone wants him to stay and I’m confident he can reach a compromise with the club." Scowcroft and Wright have both played for about the same length of time and were also comrades in reserve, youth and England U21 football so he obviously knows Wright well. Earlier Town manager George Burley had said that he had spoken to Wright and said that a decision would be reached sooner rather than later: "I spoke to Richard again on Friday. We had a really good chat. He has said that that he will be back to me within the next few days." Wright's agect Jonathan Barnett has been touting Wright whilst the keeper has been away with England with Celtic reportedly interested. Other clubs linked lately include everal Italian sides, Newcastle and Barcelona. |

Reuser to Reach Mauricio Status Fri 23rd Jun 2000 14:59 New Town signing Martijn Reuser has spoken of his delight at his transfer to Town finally going through. And he has endeared himself to supporters all the more by speaking of his feelings for the club: "Three months ago coming to Ipswich was an adventure — it is very good to be back again. I’m very, very pleased to have signed a contract and let’s hope we have a great season — as good as the final months were for me of last season. I am really looking forward to playing in the Premiership with Ipswich. We have a good group of players and I think we can do well. Ipswich is a nice place with a great group of players who I think can survive in the Premiership. I didn't speak to any other clubs as I'd made up my mind to come here." What a star! |

He was not alone in his praise for Reuser, chairman David Sheepshanks added: "We are in the enviable position of knowing exactly who we have signed and what we are getting following Martijn’s three months playing with the first team squad at the end of last season. He is a popular lad who has already become a big favourite with the fans. On a personal note, I am absolutely delighted Martijn is joining us and wish him the very best of luck, good form and many goals over the coming years at Ipswich Town Football Club." |

Latapy in for Town Thu 22nd Jun 2000 20:46 Stories circulating in Edinburgh suggest Town are once more showing an interest in Hibernian's Trinidad and Tobago international Russell Latapy. This is not the first time there has been interest from Town in the former Boavista and Porto player. The midfielder scored twelve goals last season after enjoying an excellent first season during 1998/99 when he scored six goals in 23 games. |
