Typical first game of the season. We started shakily. The penalty was indisputable but unlucky. It was the only way Bolton ever looked like scoring. They played like Allerdyce was still in charge:- if you can't beat your man - wrestle him to the ground! I don't know where the ref was most of the time. There were outrageous fouls against us. Once we settled we played some smart football; close rapid passing, frequently turning a sort of Bolton attack into a race for their goal line that more often than not was thwarted by unpunished fouls. Second half we found our rhythm and played some lovely football. Aluko came on and played some awesome solos to open up channels but nobody could finish. Morsey against the grain of his play failed to put enough beef into a certain goal from one of these moves. John-Jules showed a glimpse of class. Lapado needs time. He looks like he is running in treacle; not sure what is going on there. Our defence looked pretty solid. Walton's distribution is penetrating. .Wes worked hard but didn't penetrate. We all looked fitter than last season, especially Evans. We will have a great season and although there are other strong teams but I think we have what it takes to go up.

Enjoyed the game, and the atmosphere.
Frustration remains, however, as we didn't quite look like we'd put the ball in the net (per usual), and there were way too many occasions that we tried to take the ball past Bolton players when in a defensive position and the ball ricocheted off feet and knees, only for them then to be given a chance to break. Other teams will punish us for those frequent lapses.
Let's hope this being the start, means improvement and cohesion......onwards and upwards COYB.

Similar to last season unable to find that killer pass when in good positions. Said on Friday Leigh should be left back while Davis finds his feet. I would also play Tyreece John Jules instead of Harness in the next game. Shame Morsy missed that chance near the end as he was outstanding and showed how vital he is to our fortunes this season.

Same as last season, can't score enough which against better sides isn't good enough. Apart from his goal thought Evans was poor so for me he's the weak link.
Don't think any of our current strikers will score much more than 10 and that's where our problem is!

Encouraging start against a tough and organised Bolton team, and we definitely dominated the second half and the last 15 of the first half. Davis had a shocker of a debut and clearly needs to get up to speed with Div 1 football. Leigh gave us much better options in defence and attack when he came on. Thought Ladapo looked really dangerous and John Jules looks a real exciting talent. Morsey had a slow start but ended up dominating midfield and should have scored the winner. My MOM goes to Evans. Great strike for the goal and a good header that resulted in their keeper making a good save. Also broke things up well in midfield.

The high pressing from Bolton didnt last the test of time. The penalty was unfortunate for our newest aquisition which showed the lack of routine in the team. It will be a lot better after a few games under the belt. Sam Morsy was outstnading and showed his class throughout. Well, James Trafford seemed to have six four leaf clovers down each stocking! The set piece for our goal showed the time on the practice ground will pay dividends. I dont think that there will be a better team than Bolton at Portman Road this season so take the point and rumble on.
