Broadbent23 added 18:45 - Aug 30 A great game to watch. This game swung so much in the first half. Town were unlucky not to be leading at half time. Great strike from Davis. Nunez was unlucky to slip to allow Man Utd to score. Second half our system collapsed and we allowed MU to dictate. Unfortunately we never recovered and MU won the match. Signs for survival are still alive. Keep your chins up. COYB.

Robert_Garrett added 20:01 - Aug 30 Hero's until Nunez slip and then in the second half the heavens opened and we got well soaked. The thin air of the EPL was breathed by all at last. Our few shortcomings were horribly blasted by a Fernandes hat trick. Made ManU look very ordinary and on another day we will be the victors! MoM Encisco again!

Crawfordsboot added 21:03 - Aug 30 I was at the match and thought we showed a lot of positives for the season ahead. I believe Utd will finish top four or six and we gave them a real scare. Two goals and some bad luck changed the whole dynamic and thereafter Utd bossed it. All in all though plenty of positives to take from the game

philpott2 added 22:34 - Aug 30 Thought Greaves gave 100%, really unlucky how his day went. Unlucky to go behind, undeserved 2 goals for Man Utd, and then with everybody out of sorts they got the penalty & decisive third goal. A decent effort, not helped by the horrendous rain in the last thirty minutes. Was one of those days where every deflection, ricochet and block seemed to land with a Man Utd player, frustratingly. A lot of good stuff but a convincing loss....felt like the opening game a couple of years back, against Liverpool, who were lucky to beat us after a pretty good effort.

Great 45 minutes with Town the better team & creating several chances & so unlucky to concede equaliser with the Nunez slip .Game totally changed with the 2nd goal a clear handball by Maguire but apparently within the law! Gave Man U the impetus & Ipswich heads dropped leading to the further goals & Man U suddenly winning all the 50/50 balls. Hopefully a lot of positives if we can create our own luck & play 90 minutes like the first half.

Thought we were great first half and if we go 2-0 up it could have been a very different outcome, the United crowd was losing patience. Should have kept it together better in the second half, but overall there are some good signs.

philpott2 added 10:26 - Aug 31 I can only guess that the majority of player ratings on here are by people that have seen the highlights / lowlights from the game, to mark Greaves so low....he made numerous blocks and headers, had no chance with the OG, with his only real mistake being giving away the penalty.

Linkboy13 added 21:02 - Aug 31 Man United were so poor first half but we didn't take advantage. The second half they went up two gears and the score could have been anything we just couldn't cope with their pace and movement and i was desperate for the final whistle.
