St Mirren Confirm Sunderland Given Permission to Speak to Ross
by Pedlarjak at 10:39:43

I notice that when he started talking to Sunderland it made the BBC Sports news - but when he started talking to Ipswich it didn't. Says a lot about the profile of the two clubs, and, from an Ipswich point of view, not in a good way.

Pay the money and get Lampard with an advisor , although the Roy Keane thing didn't work out it was nice seeing us actually mentioned on TV once in a while and getting more live games on Sky whilst he was in charge

St Mirren Confirm Sunderland Given Permission to Speak to Ross
by Razor at 10:31:31

This is becoming a tad embarassing, but no surprise there.

I can only assume Evans has got a definite thumbs up from somebody (Hurst?) but just has to wait for the right time to announce it.

Otherwise he could prove to be really clever (really!!) and produce somebody from nowhere, like Nigel Cough (yes please) or David Moyes.

This is more exciting than our football last season----when will it all end!?

It's happening again

You're getting yourselves worked up about Hurst now as if he's our manager in the same way as you did Ross. Nothing is set in stone at this moment...You're all setting yourselves up for a big disappointment again if it all goes wrong or if he isn't the one.

Chris Doig can salve our Ross pain....
by unstableblue at 10:14 24 May 2018

The more I watch this guy... and read his articles... me LIKEY!!

Bit more 'basic' but I can imagine this guy can motivate players, BIG time.

PS - I don't think we can liken this guy or his role alongside Hurst to Mick, Paul Jewel or Keane's second fiddle coaches; different set-up clearly.

Let hope we have got both, and this has been discussed in whatever (AND THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME) contact we have had to date.

See vids and numerous articles from DOIG:

With hindsight and some supposition
by SWGF at 10:08 24 May 2018

It's looking like it was Hurst all along.

I find it highly unlikely that we have zero idea of whether Hurst is interested or not. I'd imagine that his representatives are fully aware of what the salary/package is, what the expectations are, what the budget will be and that we've received favourable responses in return.

Hurst and Evans may not have met face-to-face but you'd assume Evans has done enough due diligence/digging around to have a fair idea that Hurst is someone he can get on with. You'd think Hurst would have done the same.

The initial deadline always pointed to the first choice being someone potentially being involved in the Play Offs. Had that particular team failed to reach the final, I'm sure a decision would have been made before now. As it is, I'd expect it to be within the next week. Get Sunday out of the way, celebrations completed and then to business.

Saying all that, the chap from Taiwan will probably wander through the door on 1st June.

Sunderland Given Permission to Speak to Ross But Town Still an Option - Report
by blue62 at 10:06:02

No one knows what is going on. So any whinging here is totally unnecessary, unless you know the process that ME is going through.

At the end of the day if Ross has two offers then it is up to him to make his choice between the clubs. Those that are saying the Sunderland supporters treat their managers poorly may need to look at how some treated MM.

We may get a total curve ball and someone that has not been mentioned maybe the target.

Hopefully sorted in the next few weeks so the new man will have a full pre season with the team.

Or probably a bit later as it still looks damp outside. Floodlights are up but not on at Lord's (I can see from my desk).

I'm going tomorrow, anyone else there this weekend?

Was one of the many classic numbskulls. The chompx retweeting, Brentford away chanting, singing anti itfc songs at carrot rud, brexit voting fla supporting standard supporter that fills up Twitter. Incredibly lots have been swept up and they now proudly call themselves a majority.

Embarrassment to the club the lot of them

I think we are all forgetting it is still early on in close season....
by ITFC_Forever at 09:55 24 May 2018

It just feels like we have taken a long time to sort the managerial position out as it was confirmed Mick was leaving before the end of the season.

Although you could say we have frittered away our head-start, if our preferred candidate was Hurst all along, we were always going to have to accept the timetable that Shrewsbury's end of season gave us......

Nice one Shane - admire your integrity, and contempt for people who don’t have their true heart in the game.
Many people would welcome you back at Portman Road - was a promising young keeper, with much potential.
