Skuse Signs New Deal
at 13:19:52

Apologies ChrisSwailes, always wondered how people managed to vote differently to how they intended, but it just happened to me. Meant to up vote you, not down vote.
Agree with your points, obviously you are someone who sees the bigger picture.

My Best Town and Liverpool XI: John Wark
at 11:12:22

WOW! That is a phenomenal team! Can you just imagine watching that team play? Would score bucket loads, concede very few, would not be bullied by anybody.
John Wark was a sensational player, who very very few clubs would be able to afford in today's market. Not only to have scored so many goals in a great Ipswich team, but to have top-scored (ok Rush missed some games) in what was also a brilliant Liverpool team, tells you everything.
Like Kieron's view, with nothing against the truly sublime talents of Kevin Beattie, i too would put Warky as the best ever Town player, for the longevity and honours throughout his career. I have no doubt that, had the Beat had a career as relatively injury free as did John Wark, then he would have done even greater things and would have been my choice.
Always remember seeing John Wark score a fantastic free kick in the hospital cup at Norwich. The bend he put on the ball was amazing. I was behind the goal in their Barclay stand and can still picture it (scored at their River end) to this day.

My Best Town XI: Steve McCall
at 11:37:01

I can understand those who have a gripe against Marcus Evans, especially when you compare our current team and plight, with those of Robson (too young [even at 50] to truly appreciate those years), Burley and others. No, for me, one thing and one thing only is to blame! That is MONEY! Money has ruined the beautiful game. Money from Tv deals especially. Money has created a grossly uneven playing field! Apart from a few possible examples, you need a mega-rich person/enterprise to truly stand a chance.
Is it any wonder that Ipswich (when a Championship team) were left behind, when clubs like Derby were throwing silly sums in their endless, unsuccessful pursuit of the cash-cow Premier League.
Personally, i wish all clubs had caps on what they can spend (with VERY severe punishment for breaking it), and while some will argue that Ipswich's debt increases, at least we seem to play as near to the rules as possible. Sadly money rules everything these days. Formula 1 is dominated by the rich teams and no doubt there are countless other examples!

My Best Town XI: David McGoldrick
at 13:39:50

It is very sad that four (very decent) loan players make Didzy's team. Perhaps it says something about the quality of our own players and/or the heavy reliance of loan players under some managers (an observation rather than a criticism, as 3 of those loanees certainly livened up our percormances).

Brazil Announces Semi-Retirement
at 16:44:13

Totally agree Brassy, if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all. Sadly i expected a few negative comments before i even scrolled down.
A great player, and someone who has an established career in broadcasting. I think the fact he has been doing it for 20 or so years, is the best yardstick to measure just how successful he has been! Rather than making snide comments about his broadcasting style or personal issues.
Well done Alan Brazil i say.

I think Northstander meant that he is originally from Harlow and quite possibly will still have family there. Not too far from Ipswich.

Oh well, at least by us being in League One now there is lower odds on drawing and then being humiliated by a lower league team lol.

Barnet 1-0 Town - Match Report
at 23:13:06

Rather see our weaknesses in a friendly, when a defeat costs very little. If we were tonking these teams with the lightweight squad we have, some might be happier. However it would only be papering over the cracks. Then we could be found to be in serious trouble when the season starts.
A couple more poor/abject performances/ results in pre-season will create a nervousness that would hopefully loosen the purse strings....well, I hope 😉

Wickham and Delaney Help Palace to FA Cup Final
at 20:29:29

Personally I always thought Delaney as a bit of a liability. One of those cases where you wonder "how the hell can he be a regular in a premier league team' Maybe it is a case of 'horses for courses' or perhaps being alongside a more reliable defence?

McCarthy: Emmanuel Deserved Debut Win
at 09:07:50

Good luck to Josh, it's nice to know that in him, we have fairly decent back up. I am sure nerves would have played a part, and in Alan Judge he was up against a player of quality. I am sure he will grow into the role (as and when required), but have good & bad days.

People's opinion of him "doing Ok" is still a good indicator, in that at least he didn't look out of his depth, so I'll take those comments as a positive too.
In truth MM was right to comment the way he did. I see that as good man-management! If you, as a 17 year old in your first day in a new job are told by your management that "yeah, you did OK" it could affect your confidence. MM & TC (and probably JE himself) will know where he did struggle and will work on ironing those issues out!

Can remember Ming's performance in the opening game against Fulham last season and having my concerns about his positioning at times and whether he would make a decent replacement for AC. He went on to earn us a cool £8 million, despite many poorer performances (based on comments I have read).

McCarthy: No Apology Necessary
at 17:30:58

At first I thought "definite penalty", however have to the replays on TV were very inconclusive. The referee has to be sure that it is a penalty and, unlike myself, he did not have the luxury of about 8 replays! Had that have been in our penalty area, I would've been annoyed had the ref given it. I feel that Eustace should've received a 2nd yellow for the McGoldrick.
Overall don't think we did enough to win the game, but have lost due to an unfortunate mistake. We will bounce back! Seeing all the other Championship results, we have not really lost any ground. ONWARDS AND UPWARSS 😁

Veseli's Town Career Over
at 10:40:04

First ever post, so treat me gently! Maybe we should look at this from Veseli's point of view. No matter how good he could have been for us, he was way down the pecking order here and unlikely to get much first team action, barring there being an injury crisis.

If I was in Veseli's shoes, I'd want regular first team football - something that MM cannot guarantee him. Sometimes therefore you need to move on to get that! Step back to possibly step forward again in the future (if you really are good enough)! Mick could probably see this and while none of us know the true facts, maybe this isn't such a bad thing for either party!
