The injury thing (again)*
at 09:07 25 Nov 2020

Freddie last night appeared to get caught, from a distance maybe, but we do need to separate impact injuries from a player just breaking down. Bish was definitely hit badly on Saturday, so yes we have a lot of key layers out but a number are just bad luck.

Lockdown 1.0 - Following the Science

Just watched this on BBC2, very sobering and quite scary how inept the government response was.

Puts into perspective losing a game of football (badly) and getting upset and angry about it.

It is well worth watching on catch up.

Not sure if I missed it, but has there been any news on his injury? I feel he is a key player and we seem to struggle when he is not on the pitch.

Can you imagine the argument if say Peterborough was a high risk area so 200 or 300 fans allowed and Ipswich a low risk area and 4000 fans allowed in the ground.

Klopp moaning again about two games a week
at 15:10 23 Nov 2020

I was a 2nd/1st Cat roadman sprinter, I rode Welwyn and Harlow track leagues mid week, I was rubbish at TT's I suppose it down to preparation for races of that length. I did a winter program of 300 miles a week November through to March, with a 100 mile ride every Sunday in Jan and Feb with first race the first weekend in March. It is down to knowing what you will be competing at and preparing your fitness to be able to perform at that level throughout the season. BTW, I have still got my old steel 5 3 1 frame with campag super record group set.

Klopp moaning again about two games a week

Correct, just 17 years of repeated intense physical effort at a reasonable level several times a week. I probably find it difficult to get my head round this as over lock down I watched 90's and 2000's games, they were played at a much faster tempo than this years games, with the ball in play much more. Throw ins, free kicks and goal kicks take an age to be taken these days. Football today is at a much slower pace than in the past, but players need more rest.

Non, I admit that, but as an amateur cyclist I was able to ride a 70 or 80 mile road race Saturday and Sunday , ride an evening track meeting on a Tuesday and Wednesday and had a full time job where I spent most of the day on my feet. You do have to look after yourself, keeping muscles and knee tissue warm in cold conditions, good warm up and warm down, massage before and after exercise, protein shake after exercise. What would Klopp say if they had to do what teams did in the past, when Town played Norwich on Boxing Day and Arsenal at Highbury the following day! I really can't see how two games a week can cause injury unless the players are not following the basics.

How does it risk injury? Three days rest after 40 - 50 minutes of exercise! Total rest from midday every afternoon! It does not take that long to recover from a major effort.

Why all the negativity leading into Hull?
at 13:13 23 Nov 2020

Because we are only 3rd and some posters seem to think that by constantly moaning other posters who are not anti Paul Lambert will suddenly become anti Lambert. In reality posters who constantly snipe at Paul Lambert come across as tedious bores. Constructive criticism is fine, but it has now gone way past that on here recently. It's now time to accept where we are as a club and get behind the team. Just a thought.

Is it really that difficult for players to play two games of 90 minutes with a 15 minute break in the middle, with the ball actually in play 40 to 50 minutes per game, twice a week?

I think this is just another push to get the Premier League reduced to 18 teams so they can travel to more midweek Champions league games in an expanded champions League, as this is will worth much more financially to them than domestic fixtures. Or am I being cynical?

Twice in a week! Your a proper cyclist now, train your mind for the golden rule, never let go of the handlebars as you go down, take the blow to the shoulder that doesn't hurt, don't put you arm down to break your fall, it is very easy and very very painful, to break a wrist or collar bone. Keep pedalling, Winter riding is important for improving stamina and pedalling Technique.

Our defence on Tuesday...

Is there a recurring serious threat from the right back position? Yesterday Ward was out of position with no cover from midfield to help out either. I would not want to appear to criticise Stephen Ward because you cannot see his work off the ball from tv, but Shrewsbury attacked a lot more down our left side and targeted getting in behind SW.

You would be happy to see Paul Hurst back then? Also I would add the dull dreary style of MM, when I sat bored watching games and struggled to celebrate a goal when we scored. Yes we would have been in the championship but not sure how long I would have continued my ST if he had stayed much longer. The answer is not getting rid of Paul Lambert, that would be very expensive and hit the playing budget hard.

Also Dale Roberts may not get cancer on a re-run of 2001, who was a vital part of the management team and very sadly missed.

Classic Cloughy tactics, (and Sir Bobby and a good many more as well) player does really well, bring to earth and ask more of him. Very good management, it you had watched more football over the years you would understand the game a lot more and see this is not uncommon.

We won after an international break! That is a brilliant achievement that has been sadly missing from previous recent managers, well done Paul Lambert. Also worth noting that PL's changes at half time was the reason we won.
