Cook: We're a Soft Touch That Gives Goals Away
at 08:37:53

Starting to dawn on me that perhaps the problem last year was that the existing players who, according to Cook were so dreadful, were actually just responding to him/his style - thinking to themselves "geez - who is this guy??" and downing their tools - and not Cooks story of not trying/being good enough.

Lambert is starting to look/feel a bit like Wenger at Arsenal; towards the end everyone thinks that his achievements whilst he was in the job were average NB in Wengers case towards the end) whereas whoever follows actually realises its harder than it looks.

Perhaps its time for another Paul but this time one who didn't play for or manage Norwich?

Ipswich Town 2-2 AFC Wimbledon - Match Report

Only 9 or 10 points from the next 5 games (all of September) will be acceptable; but the reality is that with 2 of those games being Sheffield We'd and Wycombe, I reckon we're talking 5 points or max 8 - which will see us starting October in probably 17th, or best case 15 place. 9 places off the play offs. In the third tier. Closer to the 4th tier than the second tier. Wow.

Point noted Euantown, not sure that you can compare 2 of the best teams in the world with Morecambe, Burton, MK Dons or Cheltenham…..Man city will have an unused sub whose value is higher than all 4 of the squads for our opponents so far…

I'm sorry but “Burgess impressive at centre half..” - I've only read the description of the goals, not seen the footage but we've been done by two crosses/long throws that weren't dealt with by………….our Centre backs!?!?

Is there any good news? Is is masochistic that I can't wait to hear what Cook says in his post match press conference?!

Now that's entertainment!

AFC Wimbledon 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report

“Cook: AFC Wimbledon Match Will Define Our Season
Monday, 12th Apr 2021 13:37”

Correct Paul, correct.

Can't beat a relegation-fighting 3rd division team who were playing in the Combined Counties League (2002—2004) while we were playing in the Premier League/UEFA cup.

To the posters on here who frequently use phrases like “where we should be” and “where we belong”; the same meritocratic principles that can see a non-league side from a few years ago play against the Sunderlands, Pompey, ITFC's etc in a single generation of fans, are the ones which see us slide to Div 3 - it's what makes the game beautiful/devastating (delete as appropriate).

Be under no illusion that AFC Wimbledon are where they should be, as are we.

Town Takeover Completed
at 22:06:44

If this is the well financed, strategically planned project that it either is or frankly should be why did we rush into Paul Cook - why not wait until the end of the season? Neil Lennon, Marcel Franke (who will probably leave Brentford if they don't go up), Jonathon Woodgate - even Eddie Howe if the project is as big, glamorous and lucrative as we all seem to think it is?

I get the euphoria here - I really do and I hope it's accurately placed; but if this has been in the pipeline for the period we're lead to believe it has; consider the following;

Why didn't lambert stick around if some cash was on its way?

Why appoint Cook who (with no offence intended) has hardly got a glowing track record in the Championship let alone the credentials to get a team to the Premiership/stay in the premiership? Surely if ‘big money' was on its way we should have been targeting someone with more of a recent championship/premiership pedigree/experience? Chris Wilder, Gary Monk, Aytor Karanka, Lee Johnson?

Fleetwood Town 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Surely to goodness promotion for this squad will be the absolute worst thing that can happen to the club?!?

The players we've got are simply not good enough for the Champ and if we do get promoted and stick with them we'll be lambs to the slaughter; if there is wholesale change we won't develop a settled team in time to sustain a position in the Champ; hence surely the best thing that can happen is that we stay in League 1 and make our changes, develop an improving/winning team and prepare ourselves for next season?

That said, I guess the potential new owners will only jump in if we get promoted this year?

Funny how it goes....

Wrote this on March 17th 2019:

‘This is now beyond funny; mass hysteria?? Why are so many fans so optimistic to the point of being pleased, and even more trotting out the ‘in Lambo we trust' line?? What has be done to convince you all? Has had one transfer window and the team are picked by him, playing his way at his instruction, and we're statistically/mathematically worse than we were under Hurst. Shame that Lambert can't cast as much of a magical spell on performances/results as he can on deluding fans.

Under what other circumstances would a set of fans be chuffed-to-bits that the manager brought in to save the day performs even more badly than the person he replaces, the club haven't moved an inch above 24th in the league, and get relegated - but fans are high-fiving it and giving it the ‘in Lambo we trust'??? Priceless, speechless, clueless, and winless (take your pick).

In Limbo we're thrust.”

Just saying.

Town Turn Down Brighton Bid For Dobra
at 10:18:52

hmmm....

He's that good he's only managed to get into one of the worst Ipswich sides I've ever seen once in the league....If he's that good why has he only played 1 league game??

And before people remind me of his age etc - just remember that for 2 or 3 years we've heard that Andre Dozzell is the best thing since sliced bread and he's nearly 21 and has played 6 times in the league.....

Mind you; talk of how great we 'could' be or what talent we 'might' be developing (for use or £profit) keeps us all from dissenting I suppose....dreaming of tomorrow is what we do these days (perhaps the Website should change its name to 'Those Will Be The Days Again Someday'..

Lambert: Evans Should Tell the Fans What’s Going On
at 21:12:44

DirtyDingus has called it right - Managers never outlast Owners; Evans will not approach/inform the fans as if he does, it will (arguably correctly) look like he is doing what Lambert tells him too. All a bit random as surely there's a good bit of dosh slushing around in the wake of Mings and Websters sell-one etc?

Smells like something more sinister to me; I'll wager that Lambert (who probably never dreamed for one minute that he'd be in div 3) has been given the nod from a championship club along the lines of “if so-and-so hasn't worked out by December Paul we'll give you a call” or something like that; then the friction (even if a little artificial) all forms part of the justification that makes Lambert leaving more acceptable and better for his cv.

Brentford 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 22:28:14

A salutary footnote to all those posters who lambasted those of us who dared to suggest that a 2-1 victory against Bolton (who are sh1te, who hadn't trained or been paid) shouldn't be taken too positively; we played a lower half championship side tonight and had nil (zero - 0) shots on target and only 4 in total against Brentford's 16 in total; we were 2-0 down with 25 minutes and it sounds like Brentford basically stopped playing too seriously at that point.

Lambert has won 3 games out of 25; we haven't improved at all. We'll be relegated on Saturday - and I can hear it now....”in Lambert we trust”.......

Tell me again why everyone is so optimistic about being in League 1??

Lambert: Wait and See What Happens at the End of the Season
at 21:59:53

You're all doing it again; "...Lambert has galvanised our club.." "..Lambert is great.."

He may have SAID all the right things at the right time; told us all how great our club is; how great the fans are, how great the legends are etc; but he's had more time than Hurst, has had a transfer window, has had plenty of time with this squad to make us better - or at least harder to beat. And he hasn't. This fantasy that we've stolen something from Norwich and this perpetual, misplaced misty-eyed perverse satisfaction that "he loves us more than he ever loved them" is messing with your heads.

Lambert: Norwich Keeper-Coach Challenged Me to Fight
at 23:00:05

Lambert is now mathematically less successful than Hurst; none of his allegations about the melee make sense - everyone is talking about class but there is a whiff of hypocrisy (at least a whiff) when our Manager seems to be suggesting he should have a fight on behalf of the club - disappointing and embarrassing frankly.

And besides, it looks for all the world like Dromogalla was guilty of nothing more than talking to one of our staff yet Lambert (who has since confirmed that Dromogalla was the wrong man) is caught on camera having a screaming fit at him as they went down the tunnel. And then to questio their steward?? Watch the clip and it is obvious for all to see that were it not for the policeman and steward Lambert would be in a whole lot of trouble having thumped Dromogalla in the chest repeatedly.

Incoherent, distracted, statistically poor having brought in his own questionable loan signings. He let Norwich get under his skin - simple; he should have shown more composure - and yes - class.
