That’s it folks I’m down to my last four watering cans of rain water, the butts are bone dry. Still we are mid July so I’ve done pretty good, last year was better though I got to the 7th of August when I ran out. On the bright side there are many more butterflies, bees and hover flies in my garden so a dry spring was good for those little darlings. How are the other gardeners on here doing? Well people how are your waterbutts coping? Have they ran dry yet of ‘Adams Ale’ as my dear old Grandmother would call it ? I am managing only just mind,we had a little rain yesterday that helped, and I’m down to my last butt on my garage. I read somewhere the other day people should wash their birdbaths out more if they are dirty,as they can carry diseases and refill the said birdbaths with fresh water from the mains tap. |

Went into town today to Colchester couldn’t believe the price of two drinks. The good lady had one of those fruit ciders that was £6 a bottle I had a Ghostie that was £5.45 total cost £11.45. It was really quiet in there so I suggested the local spoons,it was rammed full of proper people the exact same drinks came to £5.50. I mean how do they do it ? |

The birds are getting earlier and earlier with the dawn chorus,it starts with the Blackbirds then the Robins kick in. That then wakes the pigeons up and that’s it wallop, and here we go another day. |

I was stuck in Broomfield Hospital having my fourth and final operation for the Big C. After all the fantastic treatments the brilliant NHS gave they found some small lumps still in my neck, when the team checked me over a few of them couldn’t feel a thing, yet my Surgeon could he said it was probably scar tissue but they had to be sure so out came 35 glands in my neck, thankfully when they checked them all was clear. I also remember having to give up my season ticket, and being in Hospital for the first home game of the season,I was gutted! But the kindness I received from a lot of people on here was fantastic,be it pms or texts and I thank all of you for your support. I think it was Keno sent me a picture of a scantily clad nurse, which flashed up on my laptop just as I was having my obvs done by a nurse that went down well 😂 and my blood pressure shot up 😳 Also people like Taximan who would treat me with free tickets to away games, and those good eggs from here who would let me use their season tickets if they couldn’t make the game. Thank you one and all. [Post edited 14 Mar 4:47]

Morning all I hope you all had a healthy happy Christmas. Two of my presents this year have been a couple of starter kits from Airfix, both in 1/72 scale. One was a Spitfire and the other a Sherman Firefly tank. As soon as I saw the boxes I was opening them up looking at the pieces, wonderful memories of being a child again. Lovely stuff. |

Has anyone found something odd in gas mark 5 food ? I remember when Lady B and I got our first house in the 90’s,we were both working full time and tea time was tight for time so it was gas mark 5 all the way. I had a Birds Eye fish pie anyhow I was tucking into it and found a rather long hair,so long in fact when I pulled it out of my mouth it was longer than my middle finger. A letter was written to Birds Eye with the hair attached to the paper using sticky tape, and I got a letter back with some vouchers. I have never had a fish pie since. |
 | Forum Thread | This season was always going to be a struggle. at 06:09 9 Dec 2024
I’m sure if we were really being honest about it we’d all feel the same. I have always said 17th is the target this season,so we will always be in or around the bottom 6. My dear old Ma God Bless her would always say to me ‘never expect to much out of life that way you won’t get disappointed if things don’t work out’. We are not too far away from 17th place are we. Keep smiling people it will soon be Christmas 🎅. |
 | Forum Thread | Whilst staying the night in The White Hart Hotel in Braintree. at 05:28 11 Nov 2024
On Saturday night after a party of sorts,I was rudely awakened by a car alarm going off.So I jumped out of the bed and saw a chap wearing a hoodie who had broke into a car.He just stood there as the alarm was kicking off then hid up behind a wall. I was amazed he didn’t really care that much just waited for the alarm to reset and walked off.He was armed with a longish piece of thin metal of sorts,I tried to open the bedroom window and shout at him but the blooming window had one of those daft cords on meaning it only opened a few inches. He was interested in this car as I could see it had a high vis jacket covering over some tools in the back. |
