Sheffield United 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 10:21:54

Have to agree with the consensus that this is the worst Town team in living memory - and I've been a season ticket holder since 1971.
Only positive for me was that in Skuse perhaps we've found half the answer to our central defence problems. I would be reasonably happy to go into next season with a Skuse/Woolfenden pairing (but I fear that PL is not seeing it that way).
I fail to see what Jackson brings to the team. Someone stated that he's the worst striker to wear the shirt, and I struggle to think of anyone poorer. Even Frank Nouble would be a vast improvement. £1.6m seems like extortion, does that make him the most expensive player to come out of league 2? Accrington Stanley are certainly shrewder operators in the transfer market than ME & co., what with £750,000 also going their way for Donacien.

McCarthy: I Hope Fans That Hounded Me Out Enjoy the Sexy Football in League One
at 11:17:53

I never gave McCarthy stick, and I guess he fulfilled his remit. But I think that his comments regarding our relegation say more about him than it does about us. Serves to reinforce my feeling that I wouldn't turn the clock back and judging by the atmosphere in the ground nowadays, nor would most fans.

Lambert: Chambers and Skuse Have a Massive Part to Play
at 18:51:46

I honestly believe that we look a better team without these two. I guess that Chambers is one of the higher earners at the club and so I see his being out of contract as a golden opportunity to reshape what, for me, is the Achilles heel of the team - the defence.
PS How do I get rid of these adverts on the website that obscure the article?

Elder Makes Debut and Keane on Bench as Town Make Seven Changes at Accrington
at 14:29:11

If Donacien can't make the bench for a cup game at his former club, what future does he have at Ipswich? I'm a big fan of Lambert, but can't help feeling that this is a mistake.

Middlesbrough 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 09:40:25

Interesting to browse the results yesterday to see amongst the goalscorers elsewhere were Webster, Garner (2), Marriott, McGoldrick, Pitman and Varney. (Two former loanees as well, Tunnicliffe and Maitland-Niles). As a season ticket holder since 1971, I've always felt that I was spoilt football wise as a kid, I'm now realising that perhaps I didn't fully appreciate what I was watching in more recent times.

Hurst More Determined After Town Sacking as Claim Lambert to Be Handed £10m War Chest
at 13:46:45

Tbh I thought that the Hurst appointment was the right one back in the summer, but the squad that he's left us with is the worst I've seen in 39 years of watching the Town.
I wonder whether the reputed £10m will materialise if any chance of survival has gone by January. In the meantime, perhaps Lambert should pull the shirt on.

Chambers Slams FFP Rules

What happens to these fines? By rights it ought to be paid by way of compensation to the other clubs in the league that have missed out due to unfair competition, I'm not sure that it is though.

QPR, Bolton and Blackburn Among Clubs Linked With McGoldrick

I will remember him as the class Town player of the last few years. During some of the lowest times he was the only bright light. I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

Steijn: I Expect to Stay With VVV-Venlo
at 13:17:14

Tisdale has been top of my wish list since it looked likely that Mick would go, I'd be delighted to see him installed as manager. He's done a sound job at Exeter - taking them up from the Conference into the Football League and then promotion into League One. They have since been relegated into League Two but have made the play offs both last season and this. Tisdale's teams play highly attractive football whilst operating under very tight financial constraints - they are owned by their supporters trust.

Milne: Considered Search for New Boss to Run Past End of Season
at 19:43:53

I would be happy with Steijn.
I would also be delighted with Paul Tisdale of Exeter City. Just look at his record and, having been there since 2006, he's not a one or two season wonder. Exeter play highly entertaining football on a miniscule budget, I honestly believe that he'd be ideally suited to the Town job.

Lincoln Boss Plays Down Town Link
at 17:58:41

Paul Tisdale has done a great job at Exeter. Plays entertaining football on a very tight budget, has taken them from the National League and up to League One, albeit to be relegated down to League Two. Exeter are now established as League Two promotion contenders. Tisdale has a sound record of playing entertaining football on a shoestring.

Cardiff and Birmingham Linked With McGoldrick
at 14:07:21

Warnock wants Didz to 'boost his side's promotion aspirations', whilst we 'might be tempted by a small fee for McGoldrick'. Sums up the respective ambitions of the two clubs.
If - and it's a big if - we are in the play off frame towards the end of the season, a player of Didz's quality could make the difference. I believe that his contribution this season to date would have been far greater if he hadn't been played out wide.

Celina One of Six Changes at Cardiff

Just a little puzzled as to why we have 2 right backs on the bench, i.e. Spence and Connolly, yet Kenlock is not there. Is he injured? Otherwise, very unlucky not to feature at all.

McCarthy: I'll Finish My Contract and See What Happens
at 21:17:58

If the club has an option to keep McCarthy for a further two years when his contract runs out at the end of the season, I cant't see how it is his decision to make. If the club choose to exercise the option, then I would assume that he is obliged to stay. If the club don't choose to, then MM is on his way whatever he might want.

McGoldrick: One of My Most Important Years
at 18:25:56

Didzy has been a rare ray of light over the past few seasons and I will be gutted if he departs at the end of the season, or before. The Norwich game was a rare off day for him and it's unfair that he's taking stick in this column. Supporters need to ask themselves how would we feel if we were playing in a team of inferior players and given no encouragement by the manager to play attractive football. The long term need at this club for a creative central midfielder has impacted negatively on Didzy more than any other player.

Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices
at 10:42:04

Judging by the outpouring of criticism, I guess that this price increase will lead to a considerable number of season ticket holders choosing not to renew. If there are, say, 12,000 current season ticket holders, a 1.5% increase in prices will be negated by 180 choosing not to renew. I would be surprised if this number is not higher and so the net effect of the price increase, aside from the ill feeling generated, is bound to be negative.

Colchester Turn Down Town Bid for Winger Dickenson
at 08:58:29

If we're scouting Colchester, surely the form of Owen Garvan can't have gone unnoticed. The U's turn of form has 100% coincided with his return to the team, even losing their first game in months when missing the Exeter game last weekend. He was destined to be the long term replacement for Magilton until Keane shipped him out along with Rhodes and Haynes. Keane's legacy is still being felt.

Former Loanee Grant Rejoins Doncaster
at 18:45:00

I thought he looked the most promising of the debut makers against Barnsley in the opening game of the season, and that included Grant Ward's hat trick. Unfortunately he was never subsequently given any opportunity to establish himself.
I hope he has a successful stint at Doncaster and goes on to make it at his parent club.

Blues Linked With Former Loanee Tunnicliffe as Clubs Eye Lawrence

Never rated Tunnicliffe when he was here and hasn't impressed since when returning with visiting teams.
To lose Lawrence would be a big blow, particularly now that Williams is out for 3 months. To see him become a budgie would rub salt into the wound.
