Cook: We Should Have Been Given More Time at Town
‘Methinks he doth protest too much!’ When you’ve finished reading his comments you will still need to go back to his taking over the then existing ITFC squad and the total failure to elicit one glimmer of improvement from it. That in itself wasn’t good enough and it pretty much continued with the newly-assembled squad. As I’ve said before it was ‘These toys are rubbish Dad, get me some new toys!’ followed immediately by ‘I can’t get these new toys to work Dad!’

I've never understood this fascination many managers have with signing former players. I feel to some degree that it's a character weakness. Imagine if Pep or Tuchel took that approach.
Pigott and Fraser Start Against Palace
Strikes me that several of the ‘discarded’ players will be popping up on the pitch/bench if these long-promised signings don’t materialise. I hope we know what we’re a’ doin’ of boi!

I think the difference with Hurst and Cook is that the latter clearly has way more management resources at his disposal and a geezer in the background who clearly knows his onions and has done this all (successfully) before. I agree with the writer who noted that the diverse clubs and locations from which the new signings emanate shows us that they have been sold on ITFC.

Damn! What a sneaky way to get me to part with another £10 this bloody weekend!
The Way Back From Here Will Be Long, But There is a Way
I’m bemused - regularly - by the ME Thing. Why would he just ‘hand the club’ to someone when he’s in it financially up to his neck? I’m not sure he’s in a position to just write-off £90m plus, although the Sunday Times Rich List has his as being worth £937m. But if that were the case and he could/would do that surely he would have done that a long time ago? Also, the general consensus of opinion was/is that this squad is comfortably good enough to not only survive in L1 but to exit it sharpish-like. That not happening seems something we shouldn’t be laying at ME’s door. As much as I appreciate the positives that Lambert has brought to the Club we maybe should look at the wisdom of his appointment in the first place, arriving as he did with a disturbingly Jewellesque track record.
I wonder what the next turn in the road will be?
Earl: There Are a Lot of Points Left to Play For
I’m starting to get a feeling as far as Lambert is concerned that we are being confronted with a case of the Emperor’s new clothes. It feels a bit like a guy who can’t provide for his family but who regularly rocks up at home with a bunch of flowers or a little gift. That literally and metaphorically doesn’t put bread on the table. Ya get me?
AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
That’s me done too, for a while at least. I would normally attend this Saturday but I really can’t be arsed. A 170 mile round-trip when I’m living on a pension? The Club can whistle for that.
Ex-Blues Boss Hurst Sacked By Scunthorpe
Hey PositivelyPortman I WAS highly enthused about Hurst's appointment, yes. But...... like a lot of fans I found I could not connect to him at all and nor it seems could the players. I had an inside line to the dressing room via my son at the time and he was not Mr. Popular. In light of WHAT I learnt. I'll stick with my light guffaw at his expense.
