Absolute quality. Quick, strong, skilful, reads the game well, he can tackle and heads a ball well. I’m amazed he’s playing in league one and even more surprisingly as a step up from where he’s been playing until now. In my opinion he’s better than Mings or Cresswell (both of whom I really rated) when they were here. I think he’ll go all the way and by this I mean playing regularly for a decent premier league team and England. Signing him is the best thing Lambert has done in his year here. Great move. |
| Forum Thread | I thought I’d hate league one at 22:24 21 Sep 2019
but i’m loving it. Great to be winning and fantastic to be top of the league but they are not even the main reasons why. I’m loving it because for the first time in many, many years the manager, players, staff and fans are all pulling in the same direction. It sounds corny but we’re getting our soul back. Great to see photos of Chambers getting the train back tonight with the fans and the interview with Holy praising the support. I don’t want to be going to Gillingham next season , albeit that it was a good afternoon in the sunshine (even if the lack of a roof killed any atmosphere). Contrary to what I thought when we were relegated though I now think we’ll look back on this season as the best thing to have happened to the club in nearly 20 years. It’s turning into the catalyst for the positive change we’ve desperately needed for so long. BCWYWF! |

but it’s great seeing us top of the table. We’ve not seen that very often in the past 20 years. A late come back and injury time winner on Tuesday night, good atmosphere and better attendances at PR, Norwich losing and Paul Hurst managing the team that’s bottom of the league (I see he’s fallen out with Adam Hammill their best player now). This is turning into the most enjoyable time to be a Town fan for a long while. Roll on next Saturday! |
| Forum Thread | Paul Hurst’s comments tonight after another defeat.... at 23:24 20 Aug 2019
“It’s a difficult one because as much as I feel for the players tonight, we still didn’t get anything. I look at each game in isolation and in the last three now the performances have been better but we still haven’t managed a victory, and that’s what football is about. There was a big contrast in the two (between this performance and the last away game ) and the fans could see what the players were trying to do. I’m confident we’ll get there. It’s just been a frustrating start. I do believe you have to make your own luck.” I am sure he made near identical comments several times when he was here. Bloke is a fraud who did damage to our club that will take years to put right. Unlike any other ex-manager of ours I really want him to fail. Anyone who thinks Donacien is a Championship quality player, let along one worth £750k shouldn’t be allowed to manage a professional football club. |
| Forum Thread | Wimbledon on Tuesday is a real test for the team and Lambert at 20:09 18 Aug 2019
It is a game that I’d have thought the vast majority of us will be expecting a decent performance and a positive result. Burton, Sunderland and Peterborough are all teams we have played in recent seasons in the championship. Burton and Peterborough being away meant that most supporters probably would have taken a draw before the game and so the 3 points at Burton was a bonus. Sunderland are a big club at this level and the favourites to go up. The crowd and atmosphere made it feel like a championship match. Tuesday will be different. A club who have never played above the division they are now in (I mean AFC I remember the “original” Wimbledon very well), a team who narrowly avoided relegation to the fourth division and who presumably will be very happy if they can come away with a point. It’s going to be tough especially if we don’t get an early goal. If it doesn’t go well I anticipate a lot of fans will get restless with the early season optimism and positivity replaced by moans and groans. |
| Forum Thread | Plenty of positives to take from today at 17:57 17 Aug 2019
1. Still unbeaten 2. Scored in all 3 games 3. Two goals away from home 4. Norwood getting his first goal for us 5. We didn’t capitulate after missing the penalty 6. Injury time equaliser... 7. Scored by our captain who needed it after his error last week and the moaning about him ever since 8. Well placed to be in the top 6 by Tuesday night There are going to be highs and lows this season, there were both in today’s game but overall I feel more optimistic about our chances than I did before the season started. |
| Forum Thread | 3 games into the season and a lot of the comments on here show that many fans at 07:57 14 Aug 2019
don’t rate Dozzell or Judge. I hate what has happened to our club over the last decade but the comments illustrate how tough it is owning a club. If we had sold the two of them in the summer their absence would have been cited as the reason we only drew Saturday and lost last night. |
| Forum Thread | “That was not a team performance I enjoy being associated with.†at 15:19 11 Aug 2019
“I’ve asked them (the players) how much it means to them, how much they want to be a footballer and how much they want to win and compete. Despite being at the club for a short space of time there are some things that I feel are happening far too easily.” Comments made by Hurst yesterday. The clown appears to have learnt nothing from the mistakes he made here. He had a similar rant after the Exeter game last August. |
| Forum Thread | Tomas Holy at 21:01 10 Aug 2019
First time I’ve seen him. He didn’t have much to do today but he didn’t inspire much confidence. Seemed indecisive and his speed/quality of distribution wasn’t great either. Only one game though and his home debut so nerves may have played a part. How has he been playing during pre-season and what was he like last week against Burton? |
| Forum Thread | The “There is a light that never goes out†banner at 11:45 9 Aug 2019
is the reason I’ll be there as a season ticket holder tomorrow so thanks to those who came up with the idea and then executed it so well. After more than 40 years I was ready to give up on the club and become an armchair fan like so many others I know who have fallen away from attending games over the past decade. Seeing that banner made me realise I couldn’t walk away. The support the club get from our younger fans is superb. You’ve not known any success, many of you won’t have even see us in the premier league let alone winning the cups you sing about or the great players that those of my generation and older were lucky enough to watch. You’re a credit to the club, keep up the great work you do. Come on you blues! |

Just had an email saying I’ve got some tickets in the ballot for games at Wembley. Does anyone know how they will decide whether England v Scotland will be played at Wembley or Hampden? If they both qualify they will definitely be in the same group. |
| Forum Thread | 4 wins in his 32 games at 18:27 2 Aug 2019
is a record that would get most managers the sack. He was here for two thirds of last season and is responsible for the lame surrender of our Championship status even if it would be stretching it to blame him for relegation. After the patience and support we have shown him it’s disappointing that he’s looking to get his excuses in before the new season even starts. He knows in his heart of hearts that he’s not up to the job. Nice bloke, good PR but no longer up to it as a manager. I blame Evans for many of the failings of our once great club but Lambert isn’t blameless for our current predicament. If we get off to a poor start I want him to go. There are a lot of decent lower league managers that would love the opportunity he’s got. [Post edited 2 Aug 2019 18:27]

| Forum Thread | We need good performances and results in the 3 friendlies coming up at 11:44 19 Jul 2019
All against fourth division teams.Presumably one of the main reasons for choosing them as opposition is that Lambert and those involved in the decision viewed them as challenging but winnable. After the awful season we’ve just had and the poor end to 17/18 the club (supporters as well as players and staff) need to be reminded what it’s like to win a few consecutive games and get some momentum. That needs to start tonight. |

If anyone has any links to photos or better still video (it was bank holiday Monday there wouldn’t have been Match of the week or MOTD on so there may be no footage) I’d be really grateful. All I can find online is a photo of a programme which I’ve already got. Many thanks. |
| Forum Thread | After the optimism from all the new signings last summer and how badly at 18:02 15 May 2019
the season turned out, I’ve got low expectations of any player we sign from league two. Norwood is 29 in September and has had one decent season in league two. I’ve not seen him play other than watching bits of the play off semi-finals when he looked decent at that level. I am not saying he’s no good, or that if we get him it will be a bad signing but whereas for many years I was questioning why the club didn’t buy more proven non-league and lower league players, last season showed me why it’s not as easy as it seems. There are two big differences between this season and last. We are now a third division club so the step up is less than it was last season. We also have a more experienced manager. Hopefully we will get the recruitment right and have a good season but what has happened over the past year has, for me, taken the gloss of us being linked with players who have not played at a level as high as the one we will be competing at next season. |

The club should find a way of honouring him. Record number of appearances and captain throughout the most successful period in our history. He’s never had the recognition he deserves as a player and leader. |
| Forum Thread | There is a light and it never goes out chant? at 13:14 6 May 2019
Best banner I’ve ever seen at PR. Well done to those who had the idea and then made it. It looked fantastic. The lyrics are sung on a loop at the end of the song. It’d be great if those 9 words were sung as “our” chant next season in much the same way as Man City had their “we’re not really here” song when they were in the third division (that they still sing now). edited as lyrics at the end of the song are “and it” not “that” [Post edited 7 May 2019 9:38]
