Edwards: We Will Carry on Fighting
at 14:16:18

I'm sorry but I must be one of the few fans who see no benefit I bringing in the youth players that have done so well this season. Our first team are shot to pieces and ineffective at both ends of the pitch. Bringing the future of our club into that environment is going to do nothing to help their development, better they stay together in a successful team and prove in pre season they deserve to start for us next season.

Accrington Stanley 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:52:13

So we have played two mid table league sides this season and barely troubled either of their keepers. If Evans is still destroying our club in 12 months time we be facing back to back relegations. We might be playing better football but that is sod all good if we can't score or defend and although PL says the right things very few of the players seem to care. Must be nice to get thousands of pound a week to be a failure.

Updated - Marcus Evans Interview
at 13:56:04

Thought he came across well, admitted his failings as an owner, acknowledged the importance of fans and our club's role within the community. I genuinely hope that the new manager buys into that philosophy. From an interview a while back I believe that is something the Cowley brothers feel is important, so maybe that is the direction we are heading. He seemed to paint a positive picture going forward and came across as sincere.

Evans Interview Released Tomorrow
at 17:57:04

Really interested in what Mr Evans has to say. If the above quotes are anything to go by it seems that he has at least heard what the fans are saying and understands that we are important to the club. I would welcome a director of football / young manager partnership. The loss of MM means that we are lacking football experience at senior management level but the veteran manager option is not likely to produce anything different to the last six years.

McCarthy: Ex-Blues Striker Marriott Was Disgraceful Pre-Season Prior to Town Exit
at 22:31:08

Congratulations to Jack for the great season he has had. I for one wish him a long and successful career. The fact is MM didn't think his famous man management skills would have an impact on Marriott at the time and he was probably correct. I just hope that the next manager realises that the academy is a vital part of this club and as money talks louder than ever the players our youth system produces are more and more likely to become the future for us.

Where Have Our Standards Gone?
at 18:07:27

Excellent blog which sums up the stagnation of MM's time at our club very well. The only point I would add is this -
Whether you choose to believe him or not, one of ME's five point plan was to develop the youth academy and rely on it for future players. The academy is working well and teams are playing some decent football. However the style of play is so far from what the first team produce that there is little hope for young players to progress into the first team and become the next generation of Ipswich players.

Milne: New Sponsorship Will Bolster Funding
at 16:50:33

Putting all moral objections aside this new deal is effectively reducing the club's income. In 2008 MEG reportedly paid £4 million for a 5 year deal, which was then extended presumably on similar terms. The new deal is worth about £2 million over three and a half years. This means we will get considerably less per annum. This in an era of ever increasing wages and transfer fees. Great work guys.

Milne: New Sponsorship Will Bolster Funding
at 16:13:32

These days betting companies are involved in many football clubs - it should come as no surprise that our management chose one with such a poor reputation. What i find difficult to comprehend (and I may have misinterpreted the quote) but we will receive less than 2 million pound over the entire deal. That's £50000 a month, barely enough to cover the wages of a half decent loanee from a premiership club. So, can someone explain how exactly this is a good deal.

McCarthy to Stick With Spence and Knudsen Against Fulham But Still Looking for Centre-Half
at 17:21:44

Can't help thinking that his reluctance to elaborate on the trip to Sweden is an indication that we may have a new signing soon. Certainly need defensive cover at the moment.

All-Change for Town at Palace
at 16:32:59

Very honest appraisal of the current situation. To MM's credit he has taken the opportunity to explain his decision and give fans the choice of either supporting the players or giving the match a miss. Tomorrow's team will be made up of players who are used to working together and each and every one of them has the chance to prove they can handle the pressure of first team football. Considering how decimated the squad is at the moment I would be delighted if a few of the young lads managed to convince MM that they were worthy additions to the match day squad. Good luck lads.

McCarthy: Subs Deserve the Credit
at 21:46:48

Great result today and a good performance from all concerned, including MM. Just want to pick up one point from the above article that suggests criticism has been taken on board - it is great to hear MM make comments like 'we did' or 'our fans' - as it creates a far more positive and harmonious vibe.

July Optimism, You Have Got to Love it — Derby County Pre-Season Report
at 13:36:37

Thanks for the series so far, always enjoy reading the reports. The common theme seems to be one of uncertainty - relegated clubs, (surposedly) big clubs and even Derby fans are far from certain that their teams will be top six come May. Perhaps, just perhaps this is the year to aim high, let's face it no-one will expect us to provide a threat to the top end of the table after last seasons failings. Summer has been positive, long may that feeling continue.

Town Name EACH as Shirt Charity
at 09:33:31

Fantastic move by the club and I hope the charity enjoys great benefits from the link-up. After a shaky start this is turning into one of the most promising off-seasons for several years - PR department are working well, management seems to be considering something othe than financial gain and signings have created a positive vibe. Even MM has made an effort - both in terms of playing style and also what is said when he is interviewed. Obviously it's too early to tell if this is a sign of things to come, and as a supporter I will always hope for more, but credit where it's due - well done to everyone at the club for their efforts over the summer.

Cobbold Stand Season Ticket Holders Face Move for Increased Away Allocations
at 12:52:05

Credit to the club for handling a difficult situation in a positive manner. I appreciate that those affected are likely to be unhappy, for various reasons, but the club has taken the time to explain that the move is designed to increase attendances - which can only be a good thing. Overall the PR department has worked very well over the last couple of months in trying to bridge the gap between fans and the club. I only hope that now pre-season is underway that MM and his team tactics don't undermine the work done.

Adeyemi Signing Confirmed
at 23:51:41

Welcome and good luck. Decent signings so far and what encourages me most is that they are all saying - spoke to manager about his plans and liked what they heard. Maybe the football is to improve, as I doubt any of our signings would be keen to join a club that is going to persist with the awful hoofball we have suffered for the last few seasons.

Murphy Set to Leave Newcastle With Boro Eyeing Loan Move

He was a great servant for the club and I hope he gets the chance to play regularly next season. However if the club were to show interest in any other 34 year old forward there would be a stream of critical posts here on TWTD.

Town Confirm Berra's Exit
at 09:52:44

Thanks for your service to the club and good luck for the future.
On this (very rare) occasion I would also like to commend the club's management. Triggering the one year extention to his contract and then demanding a fee would have been an option. It would seem however that the personal needs of Christophe were placed above financial gain.

Rotherham United 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:44:44

I know we fielded a weakened side but today showed how much work needs to be done between now and August. When Bart and others are sold to cover the shortfall in season ticket sales, Berra, possibly Chambers leave and the loanees return to their parent clubs, many of today's team will form the bulk of our first team squad for next season. Unless investment is forthcoming we are likely to find next season even more difficult than the one we have just suffered.
