What is this strange pleasurable feeling I have?
at 17:14 8 Feb 2025

Get in, well played Town.

Hope we get a decent draw now.

Not sure how strong the Coventry team was but will much prefer seeing us win 4-1 next season rather than losing 4-1 this season.

Hopefully Clark and Philogene will gain some confidence from that.

Review of transfer policy needed this summer
at 20:22 3 Feb 2025

Sorry to be negative but in the main it appears we overpay on top end Championship players who are not good enough for the premier or fixate on positions that are not needed or where previous recruitment was poor. Other than that it is relegated players from the previous season. We have a seriously imbalanced squad and Delap aside who apparently has a low buy back clause none of the others have added value for re-sale which I can only assume is our strategy?

Fair play to gamechanger for splashing the cash but if we get back to the premier league let's do the eye test rather than data and buy in the positions where it is actually needed for the first 11. We have a dearth of very similar players with little to choose between most of them.

In January we get Godfrey and Philogene both totally unnecessary and not needed. The keeper is a panic buy albeit probably an upgrade on what we have already.

In addition our scouting network needs to look further afield, we could have got much better value shopping abroad although appreciate it's more of a risk.

I feel squad harmony will be difficult to maintain next year and we'll be moving many on at a loss.

McKenna
at 10:33 2 Feb 2025

I fear another summer of job speculation and wonder if in part this is why our recruitment was so poor as many weeks spent trying to convince him to stay and then panicked at the end.

I feel he owes it to us to have another go at bringing back us up. We have stayed loyal to him and he needs to now re-pay that.

Once relegation is confirmed we need to have a serious look at where we are going to be for next season. There is no way we can keep all the players we have happy playing in the Championship e.g. one team spot for Broadhead/Clarke/Philogene. The defensive issues, why would Woolfy and Burgess want to be reserves or if say Greaves is sold why would Burgess want to stay knowing if we go back up he won't get a game. The goalkeeping situation, we will practically have no central midfield, Delap will be sold so one striker who spends a lot of time injured and so on.

McKenna has done many great things but I really feel next season should he remain here will be his biggest challenge as its imperative we bounce back or we could easily find ourselves going full circle.

The Coventry game next week will tell us a lot as we will be playing them next season and it's likely the reserves who will most likely still be here will play.

44% of Saints points this season are from playing us
at 17:48 1 Feb 2025

And we will be playing them next season, we only managed 1 point v Leicester too. We have gone backwards as a team, there is no team spirit anymore, no fight, no desire. The second half was appalling and subs baffling.

Do your jobs today crowd
at 07:50 1 Feb 2025

We need to be bang at it today and make it really intimidating. The likelihood is we will go behind early and we must stick with the team. Bizarrely some of the best atmosphere has been after a 6-0 loss and being 4-0 down at Liverpool, we really need to bring it today. If you can still speak come 4.55 have a word with yourself.

I am nervous as hell but will be bringing the decibels later. Please S6 and SBR sing in tandem today and everyone else at least clap if you are not going to sing.

This is a must win game and we must bring it as a crowd. Get on the beer, the red bull or the coffee to bolster yourselves pre game, will be a Monster for me as driving.

Do we go with the L1 boys in the main tomorrow

Would be nice to see Wolfy and Burgess flanked by Axel and Davis, Morsy and Taylor in the middle and the new boys in attack?

Wolves fixtures
at 09:00 26 Jan 2025

Wolves have a so callled easy run coming up:

Tuesday 25th Feb
Home Fulham

Saturday 8th Mar
Home Everton

Saturday 15th Mar
Away Southampton

Tuesday 1st Apr
Home West Ham United

Saturday 5th Apr
Away Ipswich Town

I would expect them to get 10 points from this unless Fulham turn up and Everton have new manager bounce.

During that same period we have:

26 Feb 19:30 Manchester United A

8 Mar 15:00 Crystal Palace A
15 Mar 15:00 Nottingham Forest H

1 Apr 19:45 AFC Bournemouth A
5 Apr 15:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers H

Other than hopefully Wolves I don't see any points in the away game, maybe get something against Forest if they fall away. This will be the season defining month, please Arsenal go and buy Cunha at any cost.

Everton if they hang on out of sight

Wolves edging away from us and playing ten men.

Failure to win against Saints next week and we're done in my opinion.

Second half of season points for promoted teams tends to decline
at 22:09 20 Jan 2025

True to form

Brighton -1 point
Man City -3 goal difference

And both games were at home not away.

You can argue we were unlucky to play both re-gaining form but Liverpool will likely beat us by more than 2 and goal difference is effectively another point.

Beating Southampton would put us a point above par.
