It will be a whole lot more rewarding for fans to see laps of honour from players, manager and executive staff and have the chance to cheer them directly than to be embroiled in a futile random scrum to run after players who will be fleeing for cover. But -- after all these years I doubt the self discipline will be that evident which will be a shame in the end. Might the EFL deduct points do you suppose? |

Mark Ashton's enthusiasm and excitement sound totally genuine. I love his (other half's) appreciation of the font significance that resonates total appreciation of the history and achievements of our club. To have any chance of restoring our footballing status there has to be this empathy. I'm afraid ME fell well short of that level of understanding. I am excited now. A measured assessment and very sensible. I am confident that relegation will not be part of the metamorphosis because Hurst has a clear plan, a tried method and a bagful of wonderful talent that on today's performance against Blackburn showed their raw talent. I have confidence that Hurst and Doig will mould these lads into an effective team that will grow up fast and in a couple of seasons become a real force. Delightful to read intelligent non "knee-jerk" comment on these pages. Well said DazC |

Well I just had a thought. When I moved to Ipswich and married an ITFC supporter there was talk that it was bad luck that when the old North Stand was pulled down the grave of a Knight was disturbed.
I reckon now that we have re-established a knight there (Sir Bobby) our luck will change demonstrably. Last night we were so close. Sorry Barnsley, you will be our first win of the season.
