Ipswich Town v Norwich City Your Report added at 17:01:17
Unlucky not to be three up in first half. We outplayed Norwich but didn't get the finishes. Some incomprehensible ref decisions - but aren't there always? Second half we wen t to sleep in the first part and they scored. Wes Burns was oddly reluctant to beat his marker to the ball at times - I wondered if he was injured - but sharp enough to shoot decisively for the equaliser. We then largely dominated and played some slick moves but again could not find a finish of the quality we have been used to. A draw seriously flatters Norwich whose players should, however, get an acting reward for injury simulation and a gymnastic award for pushing and shoving.

We fizzed for ten minutes then let Wycombe catch up a bit and begin to get a grip on their game. But after an injury break we reset our rhythm and regained control of the game. Wycombe were surprisingly poor really. We played some sparkling football and the goals duly came. Hirst is getting in the right place for crosses more and more. Chaplin seemed to make time stand still as he picked his spot for the second goal; Wycombe defence froze. Second half was a masterclass. Lovely to see Wes on the score sheet again. He'd made a couple of back pass errors early on and had seemed half a yard off the pace to start with but some of that was some slightly misstimed through balls from Clarke. Subs all did well. Ball is rusty but getting a measured return to full power. Very pleased for Freddie popping the penalty away decisively. Morsey and Luongo, in bodybuilding terms, give the team formidable core strength. A good day at the office. Kieran's management is superb.

Forest Green did not offer much challenge but we had a job we had to do and it was duly done. Plenty of chances, more imaginative play this week and the left wing matches the right now with Broadhead linking nicely with Leif. Luongo is a muscly Morsey; really like the cut of his jib. Broadhead has spark. Jackson has found his niche. Chappers took his chances well and has us jumping a few other times - as did Wes. Good game to watch. Lovely that Freddie scored on Bobby's 78 minute applause. Good feel to today and nice to see the team smiling.

Sparkling first half. Clarke is Donacien with a firework up his backside. Keogh solid, Edmundson solid. Broadhead and Leif linking up well. Freddie worked hard and deserved his two well taken goals and Chaplin was sharp though still leaving passes short at times. Second half was disappointing for no more goals but we totally dominated and practised holding on to a lead. Morecombe were not outstanding anywhere but this win has done us the world of good.

Scary first twenty minutes - a good few loose passes. Thin we got a grip and after Freddie's goal the whole spirit lifted snd confidence visibly shone. We proceeded to dominate the game. Burns goal was a peach. Evans was masterful and showed we've missed his presence. Amazing work by our medical teams to get Lee, Marcus and Sone back but I am sure Donacien is still carrying an injury of sorts. His warm up looked guarded,

We patiently waited and waited. Solid possession. Only chances for Cambridge when we were twice beaten by our own wet pitch but Davis and Burns respectively recovered quickly. Mackenna worked his magic with another pair of exocet substitutions and we were in. A privilege to have watched Kyle Edwards shot - it was most definitely a shot - from just behind him. Sweet. John-Jules lightening reflexes for his goal. If Cambridge had played all game the way they played in the dying minutes when they had nothing further to lose we may have been in trouble early on. But patience and tactics duly rewarded us. Marching on!

Ipswich Town v Portsmouth Your Report added at 21:15:18
We started with confidence and dominated most of first half. Lost our way in the first part of the second period and let them in a bit but Portsmouth showed little footballing quality.Penalties were the only way they were going to score.. After our substitutions we found the key thanks to Freddie Lapado's velcro like holding up and Kyle Edward's brilliant runs down the left side; at last! on the left side. I thought for a while the referee was going to disallow our winner. Great game, fantastic football from us and stoppage time felt an eternity.

Ipswich Town v Bolton Wanderers Your Report added at 20:20:37
Typical first game of the season. We started shakily. The penalty was indisputable but unlucky. It was the only way Bolton ever looked like scoring. They played like Allerdyce was still in charge:- if you can't beat your man - wrestle him to the ground! I don't know where the ref was most of the time. There were outrageous fouls against us. Once we settled we played some smart football; close rapid passing, frequently turning a sort of Bolton attack into a race for their goal line that more often than not was thwarted by unpunished fouls. Second half we found our rhythm and played some lovely football. Aluko came on and played some awesome solos to open up channels but nobody could finish. Morsey against the grain of his play failed to put enough beef into a certain goal from one of these moves. John-Jules showed a glimpse of class. Lapado needs time. He looks like he is running in treacle; not sure what is going on there. Our defence looked pretty solid. Walton's distribution is penetrating. .Wes worked hard but didn't penetrate. We all looked fitter than last season, especially Evans. We will have a great season and although there are other strong teams but I think we have what it takes to go up.

Ipswich Town v Lincoln City Your Report added at 08:17:10
A fast start in the face of high and persistent press from Lincoln. Aluko was magical and Celina had flashes of brilliance. We looked oiled, organised and offensive. Two good goals but towards the end of the half, as Lincoln became a bit desperate and physical, we were in danger of picking a red card, especially by Celina. Needed a steady talk from McKenna at half time but Lincoln had an even more inspiring halftime chat because they came out very positive snd re-arranged. They managed the midfield better but had no finishing power fortunately for us. Long distance travelling to crap pitches began to show effects in the injuries picked up by Edmonson, Morsey and Burns - not helped by Lincoln frustration. But we regained mastery. Burgess and Carroll slotted in seamlessly displaying real squad depth and quality.
Could make the play-offs but whatever happens, next season will fizz.

We made hard work of what should have been a walk over. We lacked a someone with imagination, someone to make a run now and then. Celina needs more confidence on his left foot. Bonne needs to stay onside and needs a goal to get his confidence back. Thompson was my man of the match - hard working, made things happen more than anyone else. Could have doe with Aluko twenty minutes sooner. Why do ITFC always make us sweat so?

Ipswich defence had their best game yet and needed to because Hladky inspired zero confidence. Wycombe lost the game with poor crosses and the few finishes were poor. We were better team in first half, a tad desperate in the first thirty minutes of the second but when Wycombe piled on the attack we began to use our breakaways more effectively and have more confidence on the attack. An exciting game, good value to watch. I wish ifollow would give more notice of when they are going to let us watch home games - I was committed to enduring a Wycombe viewpoint throughout the game.

Hello Ipswich Town. Where've you been? Great to have you back. After an early wobble and a goal down the guts that Cook determined to buy in kicked in from every part of the pitch. Burgess was superb when he came on. Morsey brought stability, confidence and flare. Wes Burns looked like he'd be eclipsed by their left back but his bit of class later on made up for all of that. A Celina sandwich of goals - great opportunist with a hell of a strike on him. Vinent-Young and Edwards were a pair of sparklers always taking the game back into Wycombe's face. Walton is a tower of confidence. Nsiala keeps growing. Bonne's goal was class and makes you wonder why he's had those recent missed sitters but instantly forgiven after tonight's turn on a sixpence. And the "twelth man"- - enormous respect to our away supporters - could still hear you with the telly off. This team so like playing with each other - So much more to come. We're going up.

We never showed up. Unbelievable these players could be playing for new contracts and arguably for a new owner. Dozzell has no heart. Norwood is ineffective. Holy, Chambers and Kenlock at least tried. Bennetts tried but fails to look or anticipate. The clump of substitutions was ineffective. Appalling lack of remorse when they walked off. Paul Cook struck the nail when he said you cannot coach too many players. He has some thinning out to do. Let's pray he can squeeze some strategic funding and buy whom we need to replace the dross and not just whom is available.

Ipswich Town v Stoke City Your Report added at 20:38:58
Stoke we never going to win this but Town avoided winning by gifting a daft goal. I haven't rated the visitors accurately because I wasn't interested in any of them. None of them shone and their attack was toothless. We were earnest throughout but failed to put the finishing touch. Judge was our most creative but Bishop is growing in confidence all the while and the two of them made some exciting runs - as did Gwion when he came on. Quaner worked hard, frequently robbing the opposition of possession. Knudsen kept the forward feed going but was frighteningly slow at times to respond to their right wing runs. His part in their goal was mysterious but I think he was trying to reach the byline. Bree and Pennington solid, the former quite inventive. Chalobah made too many loose adolescent mis-passes; tired from Derby game? Nsiala didn't know why he'd been sent on but disrupted the defence perfectly to enable Keane to take his pinpoint header and give the minimum deserved result today.

Sheffield were a well organised side obviously used to playing with each other. We contained their attack pretty well. Chalobah came of age in this game being everywhere he needed to be and having lost his tendency for loose passes. My man of the match. Nolan worked hard and is beginning to show the potential I feel sure he has. Dozzell was uncharacteristically unremarkable, as was Edwards. Knudsen and Spence failed to take advantage of possession and space in front of themselves. Harrison was far stronger than ever before and played with confidence. His strike was superb. Before the game I predicted a draw. After we scored I really thought we could win. We could have nicked it anytime - especially on the break. The improvement in Town is very marked and we will not go down this season.

Ipswich Town v Aston Villa Your Report added at 10:01:11
Up to and including their goal I was expecting us to lose but feeling increasingly confident that we'd lose with dignity. After Chalobah scored the whole timbre of the game changed and we really began to look like a team and one that could take this game. Villa switched to drama tactics and Grealish especially showed how urgently he needs a spell at RADA to improve his acting. He frankly disgusted me. The red card was a farce and was the pinnacle of the referee's inadequacy. But then - wow. Hello Ipswich Town - welcome back! Chambo worked his socks off, organising, covering, supporting. You'd never guess we were down to ten men. The Hurst plan was taking shape before our very eyes - both on the pitch and in the stands where the "twelve man" became the missing eleventh. Bobby would have loved this. Better than a win? Actually yes, it was, - for what it represented in terms of player bonding with player - players bonding with manager and fans bonding with all of 'em. I felt privileged to be there today.

A very promising performance showing a wealth of talent waiting to be directed and moulded into a very effective team. Our first fifteen minutes was as smooth and fluent as the best play we showed against West Ham but we lost it a bit after that allowing Blackburn to equalise. Chalobah at times a little too laid back and Donacien caught out a couple of times but hey, he only travelled down yesterday so I'll give him a break! Edwards is exciting and we need more like him but Edun brought on a bolt of energy that turned the game, including a somewhat lucky strike. I've not rated Chambers until now but boy, is he a magnificent general organising his young mentees constantly - an additional energy challenge to his game that he handles brilliantly. I have SO much more respect for him now - especially as this responsibility has raised his own game. I fell very very excited for the future of this squad and glad I plunged back into season ticket holding.

Both teams started cautiously through fear. Derby shook that off by the second part of first half but Town never ever really looked comfortable. It was a physical game and McGoldrick uncharacteristically allowed himself to be rattled by Eustace who should have been off the pitch a lot sooner with his constant fouling tugging and pulling. Daryl Murphy was eclipsed by tight marking,
I feel sorry for Tommy Smith who otherwise had a strong game and saved a lot more chances than the the one he let slip.
This is not such a bad thing for Town to have lost. It puts more value on the game against Southampton as an opportunity to be relatively relaxed while getting back on the pitch after a setback and regaining confidence. If you cannot bounce back from a defeat that breaks a run then you are not yet ready for Premiership football. I believe this ITFC team IS ready. The manager obviously is.
