Cornell Leaves By Mutual Consent
Less upset about this one, bit sad about Holy. He loved the club in the short time he was here, and it does seem that he has been pretty much told to go and find another club. Wouldn't be surprised if that was mutual consent too. Odd to be asked to be the face of the new Keeper jersey and at the same time asking you to find another club.
Town Closing in On Parrott Loan Signing
My mate at Millwall says that he has been good, it just hasn't worked out for him. I've watched him at a number of youth games, and if he gets some form he will be devastating in League 1.
Jackson Linked With Huddersfield Loan Move
A friend of mine at Millwall (yeah I know that sentence shouldn't be possible but it is..) claims that Troy Parrott's loan spell at Millwall is being terminated, and he is in talks to come on loan to us. If that's the case this move may be a good one. Let Jackson try to build some form and get some goals then sell. Parrott wouldn't do any worse than any of our other strikers.
O'Neill: We're 100 Per Cent Behind Paul
If the fans are crucial to a football club, they should have been consulted before he was given a 5-year extension. For me, that is where I began to change my view of Evans.
Lambert: The Negativity Attached to the Club is Huge
Paul Lambert 10 days ago-
"Young guys always get protected, always. I was a young guy myself and when I made horrendous errors, the guy next to me got the blame because he's older and that's wrong because you're in a team."
“It's very easy for younger players to hide behind older players and say ‘They’re older’, but no, that’s not the way it works.
“You have to take responsibility. If you're in a man’s world and you're playing professional football, you can’t be young. Young now is maybe 16 or 17, but when you hit your 18, 19 or 20s you start to become a little bit different, or you should be looked upon a little bit different.
“So I think that's an easy target to blame older guys and it's a team and anybody that knows me, I've never been an individual where I always think about myself or anything like that, it's the team that is the most important thing.”
Paul Lambert yesterday
"There are a lot of young kids there and if they don’t handle that, the club’s going to lose good players.”
Has the criticism bothered them? “You [the media] stoke it. I don’t read what you write or hear what you say. You stoke it. I know from their side that they feel it, without a doubt. They’re young kids trying really hard to play football."
“It’s not easy, the expectancy level at the club’s huge. It’s not right, there’s a lot of negativity attached to the football club, and it’s not right.”
What a mess...
Town Confirm Stream Details for Spurs and West Ham
Yes £10 is a joke. It is not exciting or particularly informative to watch an uncompetitive game with no fans and continuous substitutions. Sky Sports costs me £40 a month and I can watch a hell of a lot more for that money. If what I'm watching is rubbish then I can turn it off knowing I'll have loads more to watch. If we lose 5-0 is that a tenner well spent? If we win 2-1 i still won't really care as it is a pre-season friendly. Much rather spend a tenner on the actual fixtures and give money to the club that way. These streams should be free with option to donate if you want.
Oxford Postponement Confirmed
This is great, as long as they keep rearranging these games for midweek we can watch on ifollow if we can't make the game. Suits me.
Judge: Welfare of My Family is Number One
As a new parent myself I respect Judge even more for this. He didn't need to explain himself. It is clear that we want him here because he is a valued player and added a lot to the squad when he joined in January. However if we had signed a player who was not valued by the fans, we would have jumped at the idea of cashing in, and would have had no questions of the players loyalty if he left. The fact that he explained his situation shows that he respects the fans and how much they value him. Hope his daughters operation goes well, and lets get 100% behind him, and hope he can deliver for us throughout the season.
Town Reiterate Stance on Antisocial Behaviour After Racist Chants at Luton
People like this give the club a bad name. I went to Crystal Palace away in the Carabao cup last season and had to report our own fans to British Transport Police as they were singing numerous racist and homophobic chants on a train to the match for about 20 minutes. I was shocked with what I saw. Hopefully we can single out the small minority who have no place in our stands.
Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge
I agree with the sentiment. However if you are an owner who cannot afford to contribute significant amounts to a football club, and are reliant on sell on fees and our ability to build from the academy I do beg the question as to whether or not you are the right person to own a club with the fan base and history of Ipswich Town. Many managers and players over the years have built the reputation of the club to a point where more people want to support and follow Ipswich. Investing in the academy in League 1 indicates we will build young players up and they will be key in our push to move through the leagues. But a £2 million bid from a Championship club for a young player who is performing well in League 1 is bound to interest the player. If you want to progress from League 1 you have to invest in quality and experienced players who now what it takes to win promotion from leagues like this. I can only see individual young players doing well and moving on. We struggled to keep hold of our academy players when we were in the Championship, not sure how he expects us to keep the quality players from staying in League 1. We need to spend a good £3 million+ to fill the defence and offer competition for the forwards. I respect his attitude, but don't think the mentality has a place in a club of Ipswich's history and feel it is much more suited to a club with less of a fanbase.
Hurst Fumes After Cup Defeat
First off let's give it more than 3 games. League cup games through up all sorts of odd results. Some of the players could have been complacent and others lacking confidence. Not in any way an excuse for a poor performance, and quite rightly Hurst has come out and condemned the players for it. I'm much happier in him doing that and letting them know what is expected. Impossible to say for now whether or not he's the right man for the job. But even if he isn't it doesn't automatically follow that we were wrong to get rid of McCarthy. No matter what happens this season, McCarthy's time was up for both us and him. Let's see how we sit at Christmas and make our feelings know then.
Bolton Boss Confirms Garner Interest as Trotters Lodge Bids
500k for a player who chipped in with 10 goals in 32 appearances last season, sounds like a bargain to me. We're being quoted 2.5 million for players that have yet to prove it in the Championship. Makes no sense to sell him unless it's over 1 million. A different option if things aren't working. 500k is unlikely to get you a striker that chips in with more than 10 goals a season at this level in my opinion.
