Ipswich Town 3-1 Fleetwood Town - Match Report
We crossed, we scored - 3 up inside 30 mins - and we won. Fleetwood decent, especially going forward, but early goals and clinical finishing !?! meant the match was done and dusted.
So what, small positives can we draw from the horrendous experience this term?
- Woolfy played a few matches and if he works hard and we get him a decent, experienced partner then he still has potential to establish himself as a centre half stalwart for us
- similarly, Dobra shown himself well in the last few matches and has potential
- Downes and Norwood proved they have something to offer if they stay with us and fit
- Dozzell may benefit next season from having been fit and played so many matches this term
- Kenlock has improved and Cornell could do an okay job as a No.2
- other youthful potential for the future in the likes of Ndaba, Nydam, Gibbs and Baggott
- FA youths fantastic!
Good to see Chambers and Skuse feature - wish them well.
Apart from that not much else, but of course the really big, positive news is that Marcus Evans has gone and the new ownership have already shown that they are serious in doing everything necessary to reverse the wanton destruction of the last 14 years and take our great club back to where we belong. Hopeful for the first time for as long as I can remember for what should be a fascinating journey....................
The future’s bright and I want to wear 😎
Shrewsbury Town 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Match between two average/not very good league 1 sides, but at least we competed a lot better than we have done and dominated at times, albeit with little end result.
We worked hard or should I say laboured, but so obviously lacking in quality and such poor decision making or at times appearing to just not know what to do with the ball, especially in the attacking third. Also a mistake waiting to happen at the back on more than one occasion, giving the ball away on a regular basis.
Norwood toiled as usual leading the line and Dobra again the brightest spark, Downes solid, KVY trying, but little else of real note.
Notably, no subs used until the last minute when KVY injury necessitated.
As many have said, let’s just get this season over and get started on the rebuild work ASAP!!!

In the team/squad when I first went to a Town match, albeit too young to remember much. Record speaks for itself - an Ipswich great!!!
Swindon Town 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
We scored, we won and at times played okay, but hard to get excited for obvious reasons..............and, as ever, we still manage to do just embarrassing things - Cornell howler and Norwood penalty miss.
Team with Dobra, Norwood and Kenlock in looked a better starting line up and some okay performances - Woolfy, Kenlock, Dobra, Downes, Bishop making good forward runs and Norwood scoring. Parrott also had an initial impact when he came on, but three loanee subs, why?, although I guess it doesn’t really matter.
Keep the above, along with KVY and Doz, bring on the likes of Nydam, Ndaba, Gibbs and the youth, but beyond that virtually a full team of quality imports urgently needed ASAP!! First team needs to look substantially different next season!🙏
U18s Reach Youth Cup Semi-Finals After Rip-Roaring Victory Over 10-Man Blades
Really good and well deserved - the boys dominated the game for long periods and should’ve won it sooner. In spite of that they also had to hang tough when Blades undeservedly went 1-2 ahead and showed real character to equalise late on and then win it in extra time at the death.
Fantastic and how refreshing is it to watch a match where there is positive intent shown by our players - above all that is what has been noticeably lacking from the first team both this and last season.
Lots of good performances - Baggot, Gibbs, Agbaje, Humphries etc. - and amazingly, some players who can actually deliver good crosses, corners and pass with endeavour. Such positivity!!!
Bring on Pool or the Gunners in the semis!
Really good of Shef to stream for free why didn’t we???
Cornell: Homework Paid Off
He got better and made a couple of decent saves later on, but up to the penalty save, which was soft, his performance didn’t inspire confidence. As he said himself, like Holy, very poor on coming for crosses, even when close in and decision making in that respect seemed poor. Sorry, but I think we need at least one, probably two quality goalkeepers for next season, with Cornell back up only at best.
Ipswich Town 0-0 AFC Wimbledon - Match Report
League 1 quality game, so not good and full of mistakes, particularly by Town at the back. Dons more direct and several chances early doors to go ahead as we chased to match them, albeit not upfront of course. Hawkins initially started well, won headers with Bishop running off, but then disappeared and, as ever, no cutting edge or real scoring threat. Our defending at times was bordering on comical/an accident waiting to happen!
No shots on target and Dons keeper didn’t have a save to make in the first 45 mins. 51% possession meaningless as Wimb clearly much the better side and Town again just huffing, puffing and creating nothing..........!?!
After a couple of more big chances for Dons, we suddenly seemed to wake up slightly and had a bit of a go, hitting the bar, albeit from a Wimb defender. More even game after that and certainly better than the first half, although we continued to ride our luck at the back and.........................we still can’t score!!!
Overall Wimbledon had by far the better chances and should’ve won.
Bennetts just terrible, Ward and Edwards awful, McG has heart and battles, but that’s all really and Cornell quickly proved we also need two new goalkeepers for next season, in spite of saving a penalty which was hit softly straight at him and making a couple of decent saves later on. Downes, KVC okay and Dobra at the centre of everything good when he came on, but that was about it - playing for their futures.................hard to see?!?
On a positive note, have to say I really like “The Great” Mick Mills analysis and most of the time his comments are spot on! Couldn’t have done any worse if he had been made manager at some stage.
Blues Host Wimbledon Aiming to Avenge Defeat and End Goal Drought
Don’t play the loanees unless you have to as they will all likely just return to their clubs - Parrott is the only one, however little, that has shown anything anyway; play our own, especially the developing players like Dobra and I’d like to see Nydam given another opportunity. If Norwood’s not available, give Hawkins a chance - recent matches have proved we have no other striking options!
Next season I hope we also have a good look at Mizouni and especially Ndaba, who I thought showed real potential in pre/at the start of the season.
PLC to Continue to Own 12.5 Per Cent of Town
Don’t know if this has been covered before, but have the new ownership said anything about considering the possibility of offering fans the opportunity to buy shares in the future?
Barron Targeted to Head Town's Recruitment
Good to see and one of our own and the general approach so far seems to confirm PL’s view of the club not having anything like the necessary infrastructure under Evans dismal ownership reign. Have to say I feel some, limited sympathy for Lambert - he may have lost the plot on some occasions in his dialogue with the media and the fans, but ultimately he only got terminated when he stood up and told Evans some home truths. More than Mick Mc did who kept taking the pieces of silver right to the end and chose continuing to back Evans in all things against the fans......................
Northampton Town 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Started really well, dominated and Cobblers nowhere, so let’s gift them a goal in the six yard box from their first corner - where was Holy, where was anybody??? Sucker punch/suicide defending doesn’t cover it!?! Then repeat and do the same thing again 20 mins later, with the ball going even further across the face of the goal unchallenged. We actually played okay in the first half - certainly better than recently - dominated possession (67%) throughout and hit the woodwork twice, but........................!!!
Sears, Edwards and KVY okay, Jackson and Bennetts embarrassingly awful and Ward doesn’t know what a forward pass is!?!
Holy also got to go - sort of okay shotstopper, but comes for nothing, even in his six yard box and distribution, as ever, absolutely awful!
Tried for 10 mins in the second half, but Cobblers stood strong, just played it out and after a while we just seemed to give up................
............then Holy blunder for the third goal terrible! 3-0 to Dons, 3-0 to Cobblers........
Next game is must win😂🤣😂
Absolutely embarrassingly abysmal! Start ripping the place apart for next season ASAP! Keep Downes, Woolfy, KVC, Dobra, maybe Dozzell, but get rid of the rest..........!!!
Cook: A Really Nice Small Step
I like that summary - views the same, strong points to be made about both now and going forward, leaving nobody under any illusions about what is going to happen/needs to be done, but a much more balanced, reasoned approach rather than just ranting. Agree Dozzell had a decent game - has to play further up the pitch, less sure about Bishop although he worked hard.
Charlton Athletic 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
With the changes much improved - okay not difficult. Started well and we were the better team, but first half about even although we probably had the best chances. Looked a better shape, more organised and increased effort. Downes, Dozzell (although the inevitable silly yellow card) Bishop mix seemed to work okay, but Norwood off early injured again, Bennetts still awful and Holy almost with a terrible clanger, as well as continuing to regularly just boot the ball in to touch - is it really that difficult to keep it on the pitch?!?
Second half still doing okay and at least matching Charlton. KVY on fire, Dobra on for Bennetts and we started to push on, even looked threatening on occasions, but in spite of the effort it seemed to peter out going forward. So poor upfront again and created few scoring chances. Don’t understand why Hawkins hasn’t had a chance, at least getting on the subs bench???
So we competed well and much better, albeit far from good/great and we still can’t score!!!
Season still alive......................just!
AFC Wimbledon 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Can’t be bothered to do a summary. In relative terms we played better in the second half with ten men while it was 2-1, but by then the game was long gone and apart from that it was just absolutely awful...................
Holy - okayish at best
Woolfy - poor
Chambers - average at best
Nsiala - bad
Ward - awful
Downes - good, but alone
Judge - tried, but poor
Edwards - huffing and puffing; poor in the first half, but did a few good things in the second before being subbed
Harrop - awful, send him back ASAP!
Drinan - poor, sadly not up to it
Norwood - battled, but alone and working on scraps; missed a good chance to get us back in the game with a header
Bennetts - awful, send him back ASAP!
Dozzell - nothing?
Bishop - nothing?
Jackson - pointless and invisible
Sears - past it
So who would you keep???
I don’t get it - what did these players think they were playing for???
Absolutely abysmal - hang your heads!!!
AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Ipswich Town - Half-Time
Unbelievable - just when you think these players can’t get any worse or more embarrassing..............
........Why play Harrop, who has shown nothing at any time since he joined and Parrott in the U23s???
Awful - what are they playing (sic) for???
