Defender Smith and Academy Scholars Released
at 17:06:13

Harsh on Smith who I hear has been suffering from a bad back injury for most of the season. Was injured at the end of last season when he was due to make his league debut and he's still out. Seems short sighted to me. I wish the lad well because being told you're being let go when you're injured has to be the worst - it literally adds insult to injury.

Earlier Kick-Off for U23s Match

Not good I was going to go to that. The team is doing really well, shame that the change of time means that fewer people will get to see them. They will probably stream it via Facebook but that's not any good if you are at work.

Lambert to Be Confirmed Town Boss in Next 48 Hours
at 07:17:23

Well said braveblue.

I think some fans are deluded. We aren't exactly an attractive proposition right now and I don't imagine that managers were knocking down Evans' door to apply for the role. Beggars can't be choosers as they say. It is a sad state of affairs but it's how it is unfortunately.

It's going to be a struggle that's for sure. Hurst has done so much damage in his few months. He dismantled the team and behind the scenes it seems like he and his cronies made everyone unhappy. If Lambert can bring back the unity with players and staff then he's half way there. It's a tough job that's for sure especially with the players he has at his disposal thanks to Hurst. It's certainly going to be interesting times ahead. Survival is obviously paramount so that we don't become another statistic in the ‘every team MM has left has been relegated the following season'.

Hurst: There’s Lots of Things at This Football Club That I Would Change
at 19:20:17

He's making excuses week in week out and I'm sick of hearing it. And then today he has the audacity to criticise the club as a whole: anything to detract from his own failings. He needs to concentrate on his own failings first and foremost. His arrogance in thinking he could come in and sweep everything away and start from scratch was as astonishing as it was naive. He's made a complete mess of it. He's lost the players and Evans should put everyone out of their misery.

Birmingham City 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 07:27:01

Sad times. Fans arguing amongst themselves, crowds diminishing, players unhappy (does PH expect us to believe that they're feeling bubbly), owner conspicuous by his absence as per, verbose manager full of excuses and not a single win. I've read some posts remarking how Bobby didn't win many games to begin with: that was over 40 years ago and the football landscape was very different then. PH is no Bobby.
I expect the owner will act most likely in the upcoming international break but whoever he decides to bring in has a huge challenge. Hurst has dismantled the first team and the players he's brought in just aren't up to it. It's a crying shame.

U23s Beat Coventry to Stay Top
at 06:45:01

Coventry has a strong team with many of their players having plenty of first team experience. Good performance from the 23s: a very entertaining watch. Downes stood out as did Chris Smith who was unlucky with injury and had to miss out on the whole of pre-season and is only just back fit He looked assured and put in some great passes. Dozzell is obviously fit and he is a class act.
Shame Hurst doesn't appear to want to include any players rated by McCarthy (or Klug for that matter). There's a good crop all coming through together but if we are not careful they will disappear to other clubs through lack of opportunities. There's such a log jam ahead of them now with Hurst having brought in so many players who he has to play ahead of them although I would question whether many of them are better than the crop of young lads coming through. It's a problem with managers not trusting young players how will they ever get a chance.

Hurst: We Didn't Work Their Keeper Enough
at 09:23:58

Saying to the players they can go and see him to talk about what he's doing to make it harder for them to play smacks of desperation.
If he can't work out that having a first team squad of 26+ (and that doesn't include any of the 23s) means that a dozen or so players miss out every week which in turn means they won't be happy. The players he does select aren't sure from one week to the next if they're going to be involved. The naming and shaming in his press conferences telling everyone who has been made to train with the 23 isn't going to endear him to those players.
The fans love him because he's more open and honest but how do the players feel when he's berating them publicly (eg after Exeter match) and constantly harping on about unfit they all are. I'm sick of hearing about the lack of fitness: there's more to football than being able to run around for 90 minutes you actually need to be able to do something with the ball when you get it. And the rumours of “issues” behind the scenes means that presumably there are other things going on that we aren't aware of yet.
He's undone all the work that took place over the past 5 seasons: the club was stable and there were no dramas. I am not suggesting McCarthy should have stayed but in 3 months this man has ripped the club apart and is failing to put it back together again. That has been his modus operandi at previous clubs and it can work in the lower leagues where players move around clubs at the drop of a hat but you can't treat players like that in the championship.
Hurst was naive and arrogant and I don't think he did his homework. Saying that managing is managing and it doesn't matter what league youre playing in shows his naivety. Then saying no clubs in the championship scared him was I'm sure an attempt to instil confidence but it came across to me as stupidity.
I cannot see a way back for him sad as it is for him and his staff and the club.
If Hurst departs as surely he must whoever comes in has a challenge on their hands to sort this mess out.

Knudsen: Some Things Are Even More Important Than the World Cup!
at 19:15:24

Think Hurst has been disrespectful towards him since he arrived which is not to his credit. I can't see Knudsen staying if/when Hurst deems he's done enough. How he can bring in players with no championship experience and then say that a player who has played in the championship regularly and for his country hasn't done enough says more about Hurst's ego than anything. He seems intent on getting rid of anyone who was here when he arrived regardless of their ability.
I'm not Knudsen's biggest fan but he deserves more respect.
Jury is still out on Hurst, not just the lack of wins but his attitude towards players seems more stick than carrot and players will stop responding to that.

Derby County 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 13:34:21

We only had 38% of the possession last night and 2 shots on target which is very reminiscent of the McCarthy era. It's a worry but let's hope he turns it round soon.
Personally I think bringing in so many new players all at once and then playing them all straight away is too much too soon. I am also surprised that he feels that 9 new players aren't enough and he wants another 3! Not everything that was in place under McCarthy was bad but it's starting to feel like if McCarthy liked it then Hurst is determined he won't.
Chalobah is behind Dozzell in the pecking order for England but is getting to start, it's not like he has had lots of experience of senior football so it will be interesting to see when Dozzell is fit whether this will continue to be the case. I'm glad he's not sending Dozzell out on loan but he needs to play him. It's almost as if he's trying too hard to make changes to prove he's in charge and is going to do things differently.
Think it was Joe Royal who said if you buy lower league players you end up with a lower league club so I sincerely hope he is wrong. Let's also hope the stat about every club McCarthy left has been relegated the following season is also wrong.

Hurst Confirms Oshilaja Move But Yet to Decide on Dozzell Loan
at 11:48:06

Must admit I'm a bit confused by the manager's comments recwnt. He reportedly said that it may take the new loan signings up to two seasons to get used to the championshi: so when he's got several young players coming through who are as close if not closer than that to being ready for the Championship why has he brought so many newbies in and “dumped” all the youngsters.
It feels like he has rushed into decisions which to a certain extent were forced on him by the transfer window closing early plus him not arriving until the start of the season.
It's going to take tome to gel I get that completely but I still think it smacks of trying too hard to make changes.
I hope it works for him but so far all I've heard from him is excuses; we can only shop bargain basement, going to take a long time for the players to get used to the championship and it will take time to build something.
Fingers crossed it works out.

Chambers Expected to Miss Rest of Season With Cracked Rib
at 08:38:35

I can't believe the comments from some people about Luke Chambers: there are some rotten “fans” out there. The guy has broken a rib for the team and still they hate.
It would be good to see a youngster get a chance now but not sure McCarthy will bring either Woolfy or Smith back: Wolfy is going to Wembley with Bromley and Chelmsford are in the play-offs. Shame though it would be good to see them both on the pitch: although no doubt the haters would give them a hard time so maybe they're better off staying put.

I don't think he is the answer. I can't actua see ME appointing him because he will want money and that's the last thing ME is prepared to do.
