Haven’t been to Laos it’s on my bucket list though having been to Thailand Myanmar Cambodia and Vietnam ! Heard lots of good things about it so will have to pay it a visit. Off to India in April/May for a month . We were promoted last year while I was in Vietnam so hoping the same thing happens while I’m in India !!

If it's a choice between the two I would chose Vietnam. Have been to both and spent a month in Vietnam last year. An amazing country and people. Cambodia is good too. Siem Reap to see the amazing Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh where the killing fields are a must visit. A day at Angkor Wat is plenty but get a guide.

With Vietnam Saigon has the edge over Ho Chi MInh for me but it depends on how much time you have for the rest of the country as there are so many great places to visit.

Is it the photo where Alf is on the right and the four players are looking towards him ? ( I can't post photos either ! )

If it is left to right is Roy Stephenson, Ray, Doug Moran and Jimmy Leadbetter.

Oh really ! Sorry to hear that you lost her. I can't remember which month I left in 1978 but I think it was around spring time or early summer so our paths might have crossed.

It was in Rope Walk when I left and I went back for the Christmas parties at least the next two years so it was still there around 1980. I don't know when it moved as I left the UK in 1982.

Worked with Nick, as he was then, at the Ipswich Dole Office from 1976 to 1978. He was a good lad and a few of us used to pop over The Dove to play pool at lunch time. Can't remember the name of his band but went to see them a couple of times. After I left the office I heard he had moved to London to try and make it in the music business. Never heard more about him until after I left the the UK in 1982. I think it was 83 or 84 I looked at the charts in a UK paper one day and saw a Nik Kershaw in the top 10 ! I guessed it had to be him but with no internet in those days took a while to confirm it with a friend who had also worked at the Dole office.

He was a genuine good guy and I was pleased to see he had made it and later on watch him at Live Aid !

Oh really I’d like to look that up.Yes awful. As a parent I can’t even begin to think how someone deals with the loss of a child but to lose three is unfathomable and in such terrible circumstances.

Looking forward to seeing it but waiting for the right time. My great grandparents lived in Gatacre Road Ipswich. Four of their sons left to fight in WW1 and and only one returned. The three who didn't return were 19, 23 and 26 !

That brings back memories thanks, although that photo is later than when I used it. I used to stand there when it still had wooden steps !

They opened the gates at half time there as well so I could get in after playing local football and watch what was left of the game !

Paul Mariner memories.....share away
at 13:57 15 Jul 2021

This was in the local Bermuda newspaper. Shows that not only was he a great player but also thought of as a great person all over the world.

I have many great memories of watching him play right from his home debut against WBA when he scored a cracking goal. Gone way to soon but thanks for the memories. RIP Paul.

Right that's it, im done with the club
at 20:58 24 Jan 2021

I guess most of us expected this type of response really ! It’s such a shame that the grounds are empty at the moment because I know the fans would let Evans know in no uncertain terms how they feel. I’ve supported town for 60 years and it’s heartbreaking to see them in the position they are in now.

I’m overseas so feel frustrated that I cannot express my feelings as I’m sure many of you do too.I watched Saturday’s game on I follow and literally laughed out loud when I heard Lambert say it was a great game ! We lost to a team who didn’t have a shot on goal and he claims he couldn’t ask more from his players. The man is truly delusional. I really fear for the future of our once great club !

This response just emphasis what a really poor owner we have !

anyone knowledgeable about physio?
at 14:54 10 Mar 2020

I would definitely try and get an MRI if it shows no signs of improvement. I'm not knowledgeable about physio but have had several ankle injuries over the years, mostly caused by a number of sprains and weakening of the ankles as a result.

I had a problem again about two years ago when my right ankle kept swelling up like a tennis ball when I walked for any length of time. Nothing seemed to help so I went to my GP who diagnosed it as the ankle joint again and gave me pain killers and anti inflammatory medication. That still didn't work so I had a consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon who ordered a scan. It came back that I had a small tear in a tendon in my foot. Only a scan would pick something like that up.

I did try it once but the quality was poor. I have good internet etc too. What is it generally like these days ? I’ll try it again. I do have family commitments too on Saturdays which means I can’t always follow the games.

A Pompey Fans view of yesterday’s game
at 23:59 22 Dec 2019

I’m in Bermuda. I left the UK in 1982. I was lucky that I supported them during the Bobby Robson era. My hero ! I actually started watching games in the Alf Ramsey era when we were in the old First division !

I can’t say I’d recommend visiting PR if you’re home ! Although I’m sure you will and I will probably too, it’s in the blood ! Last Christmas was the first time I’ve ever been back when we had a home game and I didn’t go ! The games against QPR and Derby that I watched in December 2017 were absolutely awful and the ground was like a morgue, even though there were about 18,000 there on Boxing Day !

I’m amazed at the support we get now. They deserve medals and as for the away support that is just incredible. I guess we were lucky to see them play at a level they will probably never reach again, certainly not in our lifetime. I was at the FA Cup Final, and the 1st leg of the Eufa Cup final. To think I watched them beat Barcelona 3-0 in a team that included Cruyff is incredible !

A Pompey Fans view of yesterday’s game
at 13:40 22 Dec 2019

A good friend of mine who has been a Pompey fan for many years just sent me this. It’s a quick, brief summary of yesterday’s game. I live overseas so don’t get to see the games unless they are on TV. Worrying that he doesn’t see anything to suggest promotion in the future. I’ve been a supporter for over 50 years and really worry for the future of the club if we don’t get promoted this year.

Lambert has obviously done a great PR job. The last game I saw was on Boxing Day 2017 against QPR. It was awful and Portman Road was like a morgue despite there being a half decent crowd there. In fact it was so bad that I went to the next game against Derby as I didn’t think it could be that bad again ! Wrong ! It was equally as bad if not worse !

Doesn’t seem like he has turned the football around though. I can only go by reports and what I read on here, but it is concerning especially with his constant team rotation. I hope he can but have serious doubts.

“Hi mate! Sorry not a lot of time to write but suffice to say that we were the better of two ordinary sides. I now feel for you as there was nothing to suggest promo back to the Championship. We missed a host of chances to have wrapped it up by 45 minutes but it took until early in the second half to do that! I think if you read your East Anglian local rag it sums the game up honestly! Anyway it looks like an interesting 2nd half of the season to come!! Cheers! Kev'. Happy Xmas etc; - Good luck with Gillingham on Boxing Day! Weve got to somehow overcome the mighty top of the table Wycombe Wanderers on the same day!! A tough one to call!! 🤔😊 “
