Has Ashton appointed young head coach so that there is no doubt who is the main man? Did he not want an experienced manager who might challenge him more and have his own ideas on how the whole football side of the club should be run. Also with young head coach Ashton will have more of a free rein re transfers.
To be fair a head coach role does seem to fit in better with the new structure at ITFC.
Ashton's most recent appointment of young head coach at Bristol City was not a success and ended in failure with Nigel Pearson then being recruited.
Obviously I will support Kieran McKenna who is a more intriguing appointment than many iof the other options. Not sure he is that much more experienced than Kieran Dyer but unfortunately Dyer's illness would make him more difficult to appoint anyway.
As people have commented Ramsey and Robson were young when they were appointed so let's hope McKenna is at least partially as successful as they were.
The question is can McKenna inspire players as well as being able to coach well and be good tactically? Will he have the presence and authority needed?
Hopefully under Kieran McKenna we will have a team with an identity and spirit that will be enjoyable to support.
Challenging but fair questions asked after Bolton game put Cook on the spot.
His reaction last night to same interviewer was petty and uncalled for. Perhaps it is indicative of the pressure that Cook has been feeling but not impressed. Interviewer doing his job.
I am still supportive of Cook but disappointed by this interview which doesn't put Cook or Town in a good light.
Negative results can definitely influence future games. This is why first win is now so important.
When you are used to winning you expect to win once in the lead but if struggling for wins it gets so nervous towards the end of the game. This is for crowd too which can be transmitted to pitch.
Holy was on the whole reliable last season with many clean sheets. Very few calamitous errors though sometimes seemed to be flat footed and not to dive.
As I've said before I reckon 2 or 3 wins this season if Holy had been playing. Basically a solid League 1 keeper.
Walton should have done better with a couple of the goals today.
