O'Neill: Time Will Tell on Garbutt Return
at 18:53:57

blues1, you don't hold back giving your fellow fans a blast do you? And you are easily pleased with O'Neill's CV. His experience of football administration is non-existent, yes sports science and working with kids are there but where's the required knowledge of running a football club, buying players, negotiating contracts and all the other difficult management he's seems to give his opinion about? He was in the building, has a degree, albeit somewhat irrelevant to the job he's doing and of course was probably cheap when someone new was needed. That's why he's doing the job. Oh and I forgot, we can forgive everything because he's an Ipswich man through and through. He might have a tough job, be out of his depth, be a mouthpiece for the owner but my point was why the BS all the time. Most of us have had enough of it.

We're assessing our 3 goalkeepers - really? Have you no idea what clowns you make of yourselves. If you don't know now where those keepers fit into our set up then you should clear your desk and go home. Of course you know but the BS that hangs over the administration of our club is pervasive and means you won't ever give a straight answer because it might just jeopardise season ticket sales or some other PR problem.

Lambert: Clubs Could Find Themselves in Real Trouble
at 16:19:11

ShouldIstay, my response isn't based on emotion, just an objective, realistic view of the situation. Unfortunately you put forward the argument that he has done an acceptable job running the club from a financial point of view, which is an astonishing assumption and try to back it up by suggesting there's some kind of balance to be had with his disastrous managerial appointments and recruitment policy. That's poor decision making and a lack of intelligent investment. I am applying balance and reason to my argument, unfortunately you can't see it, I'm sorry you don't.
Rabbit, a negative net spend and one of the smallest wage bills in the Championship, with reasonably high gates shows why Evans' tenure has been disastrous, taking us to our worst position since the 1950s. Look at how the stadium is falling to pieces and the matchday service is well below par, then connect it with the fact we don't employ a Chief Executive, it tells you everything you need to know. The owner has amassed a huge debt, with no sign of a change of fortunes - why? The Premier league is a speck in the distance, the only place he will get his money back, so the fall will continue because he doesn't have the will or the ability to reverse this downward spiral.

ShouldIstay, no the whole of my post was directed at you. Surely you aren't naive enough to think we are in no imminent danger of folding and therefore his stewardship of the club financially has been acceptable, or 'run well enough' as you say. My point is the £100m debt is not a personal one, it exists, so his organisation can pull the plug at any point, we're here this week maybe not next. Also, he is an owner who has amassed one of the biggest debts in British football while, for the last 7 or 8 years, not making a net spend on transfers and having a wage bill that was in the bottom half of the Championship, that's some trick to pull off with attendances as healthy as ours. Why do you think he has allowed that to happen? Any ideas? And you've joined the group of apologists who say give us a solution or shut up. If you like shopping in Debenhams do you feel like you can't criticize the way its run without coming up with a solution, of course not. Evans has taken us to the brink, there is no reassurance in still existing because the future is bleak, we will have no bearing on the way he runs the club, that's all to do with himself and his accountancy team. So please don't talk about some vague notion of 'playing the hand we've been dealt' - we're not at the table. We are just bystanders.

ShallIgo, Only in the mad world of football can an organisation have greater expenditure than income every year, debts of £100m and be called a going concern. Is that viable in the medium to long term? I think you will find the £100m isn't owed to him personally but one of his companies, if he was putting his own money in to balance the books each year then there would be no debt. So what happens when he pulls the plug?

Shouldistay, ''run us well enough from a business stand-point ''. How can you possibly say that, we have one of the biggest debts in English football and we're incredibly unsuccessful, how is that running a good business?

PR Paul needs to stick to coaching, recruiting and selecting a team that might get us promoted. He clearly has no shame and will talk about anything to endorse the fact he's managing a big club. Well, last time I looked, we aren't. And just to add my thanks to the owner, we appreciate everything you have done for us Marcus Evans - taking us on a steady decline to our lowest position in the football pyramid since the 1950s. At least we exist, that's so reassuring.

Lambert: You've Got to Look at Yourself
at 16:46:13

We are just being taken for a ride. From the Evans to O'Neill to Lambert it's just PR spin. The best young players will go, we'll be left with the dross and we will bring in a couple of cheap journeymen who will add nothing. Apparently our suggestion for ending the season - basically anyone who wanted could join in the play-offs - has left us a laughing stock. Whose bright idea was that? There are no positives, nothing to look forward to, the future is bleak.

Skuse: Hugely Disappointing, We Can Only Apologise
at 17:05:41

It's the owner who needs to apologise for his mismanagement of the club. But of course it's just a distraction for him now, a numbers game that on the face of it is going badly wrong, so it will have to have his attention at some point. Or maybe it just doesn't matter anymore, the tax-deductible debt is planned for, there's a good excuse to go bust in the present situation and then sell the training ground for housing. That would be worth a few bob. The hospitality business is knackered for some years to come so our small town business will be even further from his mind as he tries to recover. And people still say where would we be without him? Can you think of anywhere worse than this, in the 3rd tier of English football with debts of £100m? Take a step back and look at the situation with both eyes open - wow! How could anyone have messed up so badly? But of course we can't name anyone who would be foolish enough to buy the club so everything has to be fine and we should thank Mr Evans for his stewardship and the fact we still exist. We can't thank you enough - it's a wonderful thing you have done for us, such undeserving customers.
