Pleasurewood Hills.....

What a pity to hear how it's become.

Went there twice when a kid, and last time was in the 90s with a workmate.

I almost lost my shoe on those chairlift things when going over the water!

I got 27 on his questions! I have been on there before about 2 and a half years back, but got a terrible set of questions and just got 18. I unfairly lost as the other contestant said "The Charlie SOMETHING SOMETHING" band for who had a hit with The Devil Went Down To Georgia and Ken let him have the points! I won a one year out tshirt and Ken also chucked in a bluetooth speaker as he thought it was harsh...I know the last 2 champions of the quiz - both very good mates of mine.

Watched the Chemical Brothers set last night - blew me away. Mesmerising light show and the music was excellent. Got Kylie lined up for later!

We recorded most of it and been watching a bit each night.

So far I have been impressed with Tame Impala, Johnny Marr and to my surprise, The Killers.

Looking forward to getting around to The Cure as that is sure to be my favourite.

Janet Jackson was TERRIBLE. Actually felt sorry for her as the sound was terrible and her voice sounded really weedy!

Needed a good laugh today, and that has hit the spot!

Blimey, she needs to get a life! I would not spend all that to win a toy - she could have got one online and paid the postage 5 times over for that!

I must say I DO go on machines like this on our twice yearly outings to seaside places but limit myself to £10 for the amusements. Mind you, I normally have sod all money left after blowing most of it on vinyl in charity shops :D

Best/worst excuse for a member of staff blowing out of work.

Thankfully I left that place 8 years ago when they made me so ill that I had a breakdown and nearly jumped off a 4th floor balcony. Got my Dad to pick me up and went to the Doctors where he told me to resign for the sakes of my health.

Lots where I used to work.

One woman couldn't come in because her husband was up A&E because he had given up smoking?! She got away with it!

Another woman said her brother had tried to commit suicide - which would been fair enough but she didn;t HAVE a brother. Again, she got away with it.

Yet when I phoned in or had to go home genuinely ill, I was treated like a skiver or putting it on.

Summer flu
at 11:12 19 Jun 2019

Still suffering with mine - 3 months tomorrow it started.

Started as a normal cold, then became a chest infection which antibiotics did not touch, more antibiotics (the doctor said it was asthma and not a chest infection so why prescribe them?), then an endless sore throat that another doctor said was anxiety related acid reflux and had 5 weeks of omeprazole - I thought that was a rubbish diagnosis as of course I was anxious as not getting better. Then had to double the dose of these which of course still did not work. Also developed pleurisy and had to go to A&E.

Went back to the doctors (started to see a regular one instead of a locum who did all sorts of blood tests and swabs and ordered a scan and ENT appointment). Had the ENT Doctor put a tube through my nose - no reflux but got swollen lymph nodes after complications from the chest infection. Not cancer as I was started to get into a real state over. Now got a spray for my throat which isn't doing much, and throat still sore.

What an ordeal. All this from a cold?! And now my poor Mum has a chest infection that she caught after the Rod Stewart gig and getting caught in the rain. Just hoping hers is not the same as what mine is.

Not sure what to suggest about deterrants to them but always find Calamine lotion (which cools the skin) and when it dries some Anthisan insect bite cream works best for me.

Should easily be able to get both in Boots.

Bands that should've been bigger
at 07:57 12 Jun 2019

They were great. Loved "Queen Jane" and still have one of their Radio 1 sessions recorded on a cassette.

If we are talking 90s bands, then I would vote for Stereolab. Would post one of their videos but the only ones you can get on You Tube are live performances.

Plenty in my collection but think Agadoo would rate as the one I feel most ashamed about. The video was on Now 80s last night and I was trying to join in with the dance...

Bands considered good/great that you never really got into
at 18:51 6 Jun 2019

Simply Red. Could never see the appeal.
George Michael's solo career (apart from Careless Whisper) - loved Wham! though.
Fleetwood Mac.
Beautiful South. Or the Housemartins.

Shops/businesses you no longer see

Kitchenware shops, like Spoils what used to be in St Matthew's Street. Lovely little place. We did have a similar one open in Tacket Street called Grabs but it only lasted a few months which was a shame.

Anyone ever had pleurisy?
at 14:18 29 May 2019

We have not had any luck with police at all - been sending in reports to Crimestoppers over a year now and the last couple of months Suffolk Police. We send in very detailed reports and descriptions and they just don;t want to know, which really leaves us at the end of our tethers.Hope you have better luck than we have had.
