Finally... the House of Representatives has voted through the $61 bn aid package to Ukraine
Delayed from October last year, it passed by 311 votes for, 112 against.... very nearly 2/3rds majority
The 6 month delay has caused untold deaths and problems for Ukraine, impossible to quantify but had the aid package been put in place in a more timely manner then the situation on the ground in Ukraine would look very different
Should we be grateful to the efforts of the House Speaker for pushing this through....or furious with him for the entirely avoidable delays?
I have a Mercedes Vito that is sometimes the works van and sometimes used as stealth camper.
A simple bed set-up from a sheet of ply and a foam matress....small stove for making coffee and the World is your lobster.
It also has a bench rear seat, but that is a total pain to fit/re-fit, so I never bother tbh.
It is nippy, comfortable but a bit of a pain to park in an ordinary parking bay and it drinks a bit more than a car....about 40mpg, better on a longer run
Standing charge is iniquitous and regressive, it falls more heavily on the low energy user
My local Tesco doesn't charge me a daily levy just in case I fancy popping in for lunchtime meal deal or a CTM ready meal on the way home
Scrap the standing charge.... put in banded pricing with the first lump of energy cheap and then prices climb the more is used..... that should help those on modest income and make sense of energy efficiency
