| Your Report | Manchester City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 18:59:23 Observations: Muric: Rare selection error from McK. Looked rusty and unfamiliar with system. Greaves: struggled to track Haaland in first half. Improved in second. Tuanzebe: did Ok, struggled against Doku, but who wouldn’t? Woolfie: Did ok but needs to close down quicker. Johnson: similar standard to Donacien. Struggled. Took our only corner of second half. Awful waste. Let Lief do that Leif: got beaten again and again. Penalty was inevitable. Yet to hit form. Mass: Really struggled. Lost possession many times. Poor passing and movement. His last game I think with Phillips and Cajuste coming in for next match. Morsy was having to direct him when he looked lost. Morsy: way better than the rating on here. Didn’t pannick, got the ball down and played simple to feet. Tried to get us moving forward. Like he always does. Needs a better player beside him. Szmodics: looks good at this level. Our best player today. Omari: not much possession in first half. Looked lively in second. Worked hard. Delap: worked hard up front on his own most of the time. Looks a good player Taylor: was that his last chance to prove himself? The place next to Morsy is up for grabs. Losses possession too often. Hence responsible for 4th goal. Last Prem appearance for him I think. Reinforcements coming in look more necessary now. 4-1 was flattering to us unfortunately. Should have been at least 7. On the positive side, we can’t play worse than that and City are incredible team. |
| Your Report | Norwich City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 08:27:00 Yes, I think Norwich wanted it more. However, some poor refereeing in this one. Both ways, but majority of decisions went with home team. Clear free kick for Al Hamadi on edge if box. There is no way he would go down deliberately in that situation. Alex clearly made a great tackle and got the ball - obvious live and in replays. The clumsy shove on Hutch was a clear pen even though Hutch ‘played for it’ - outside the area a free kick would have been given by 100% of refs! Compare it to Chaplin’s comical fall-over that earned him a soft free kick in midfield. The only one that the ref spotted was Sargent’s attempt at cheating. That dive should have been a booking because the ref clearly saw that it was a dive and the replay confirmed it. Sargent successfully conned the ref for the free kick from which they scored. However Morsy grabbed his shorts after he started falling. I think that probably gave the ref an excuse to give it. Sargent reminded me of Grant Holt when he cheated Norwich to victory a few years ago. I think Ipswich fans wouldn’t tolerate a Norwich-style striker whose main attribute is impressive simulation skills. |
| Your Report | Millwall v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 20:08:53 What would Clarke and Hutchinson have to do to get a rating of 8 or more???? How could Clarke have played better? Anybody who gave less than 9 please watch it again. But watch it this time. |
| Your Report | Leicester City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:17:50 As I said earlier: a draw is a win !! Not sure why Leif can’t jump over those ones? We were braver in second half and worked harder. Lucky their keeper was rubbish. Hladky awesome. Sarmiento did nothing until he scored. Hutchinson was absolute class and deserves most of the credit for the point. |
| Your Report | Ipswich Town v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 09:25:13 Poor game with our Carabao cup team. Happy with the point under the circumstances. There are too many on here who must just give every player a low rating when we don’t play well. Woolfenden was excellent and showed leadership in absence of Morsy. Harry came on fired up and tried to push us forward. He gets beaten sometimes but has a great attitude. Williams must have the illness that’s in the camp. You can’t play that badly if you are fit and well. Buabo looks like being in the squad when Ladapo inevitably leaves in January. |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 10:48:52 First real disaster this season. Leeds are definitely better than us but keep underperforming and dropping points. But we should have pushed them all the way. Only time that I have seen the subs make no impact. In fact we were worse. When we lost the ball we couldn’t get back in shape. Didn’t seem to high press at all or did it half heartedly. We should have just sat back at hit them on the break. But we can’t complain. This is the result we would have predicted at beginning of season. If McKenna can keep the team’s confidence up and get in a another striker, we might make it! |
| Your Report | Birmingham City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:11:25 Well I was there and Morsy was really driving the team forward in the second half. He was very positive and made strong forward runs on numerous occasions and really bossed the midfield. Rating should be much higher. At least 7.5. Very strange voting makes me think many voters didnt watch the match. Chaplin and Broadhurst had a poor games. Hutchinson doesn’t have a great understanding with the other players yet. Luongo had a shocker. Clarke also. We were saved by the subs and the stadium announcer comedian who wound our players up to provide the necessary motivation. |
| Your Report | Bolton Wanderers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 19:28:26 Ipswich didn’t play that well but Bolton were awful. Bolton’s passing and final ball were abysmal. Town could have capitalised on this much more. The pen wasn’t a pen and the corner that led to it wasn’t a corner - justice was done. Bolton are good at one thing, holding players on the blindside of the ref and then throwing themselves to the ground. The ref fell for all the tricks from both teams. At one point he blew for a free kick to Town and then waved play-on after most players had stopped! Some Town players were a little off- form. Chaplin and Luongo were disappointing. Broadhead looked our best player outside the defence. Not surprised only 17,000 Bolton fans turn up to watch this team. Outsung by 3000 Town fans. I always sit in the stands with the Bolton supporters and they always moan even if they are doing OK. Today the moaning was justified. They will struggle to make the top six. Towns goals were top class. Burns’ quick break and cross perfectly met by Hirst. Burgess charged unchallenged into the box to head in a perfect corner. I noticed in the finishing drill before the match that Hirst is particularly good at meeting crosses. I also noticed that none of the other strikers could find the back of the net. I hoped their finishing would be better in the match. It wasn’t. |
| Your Report | Bristol Rovers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:51:17 Low ratings for defenders are silly. They did OK and kept a clean sheet. Aluko was good. It was the midfield and strikers who couldn’t produce the goods. Burns is nowhere near the standard that saw him break into the Wales team. I would now play Jackson in place of him. In fact anyone in place of him. He gets knocked over by a gust of wind. Best player in Div 1 last season. One of the worst this season. |
| Your Report | Bristol Rovers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 22:43:38 Collins was best player tonight. He is just 25 and would have been a good buy. Poor performances particularly from Harness and Burns. Humphries is not yet good enough for a top of table team. Unlucky that Luongo is not fit. Once Ball, Luongo and Evans back we will consolidate 4th place. It’s looking a bit like quite a few seasons where we are told our players are the best in the league, they do ok in the first half of the season, then even bottom of the league players start to look superior. We plummet down the league. However, I think that this time we will recover and do well in last 10 games. Finishing on a high, we will have a good chance in play offs. |
| Your Report | Portsmouth v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 08:32:30 We have the best defence and midfield in the league. McKenna knows we are just missing a class striker. Ladapo was a stop-gap because no class strikers available who would play in league 1. Our passing and movement is second to none and great to watch but you just know what’s going to happen when the ball comes to our ‘strikers’. Ladapo’s easy header was going wide. Thankfully Burgess was there to redirect it. There was one great ball in to him that he completely missed and just needed any contact to score. I have watched nearly all matches and he is the worst finisher I have ever seen in an Ipswich shirt. He is actually worse than Jackson. Other than strikers, our team is by far the best in the league and we are championship standard. Unfortunately there are not many class strikers waiting for a division 1 team to sign them. |

| Your Report | Ipswich Town v Oxford United Your Report added at 23:01:22 Div 1 refs don’t give pens. I think they are scared of making a poor decision. Much safer to give nothing. Having said that I remember the Sheff Wed match where Burns threw himself down to ‘win’ a free kick when he could have stayed on his feet and have a clear scoring opportunity. I was right next it. Not what I pay to see. He has improved a bit since then but still looks to go down on the slightest contact. Be actually looks pretty strong so no excuse. Ladapo’s finishing was terrible again but a really good solid team performance. |
| Your Report | Wycombe Wanderers v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 19:34:56 Aluko and Edmundson were outstanding when they came on. Just a shame we have no finishers. A lot of shots get blocked and I think the players are trying to shoot when there is no space to shoot. Crosses are often over-hit. Wrong decisions made when around the penalty area. No one at the near post for crosses. A surplus premier league striker needed in Jan. |
| Your Report | Port Vale v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 00:27:30 We got away with it. We really missed Evans and Morsy. Would have lost to a top team tonight. However, Ball and Humphreys will have benefitted. Disappointed we couldn’t dominate the second half. Impressed at how many Town fans made it to Stoke on a Tuesday night especially as we could have watched at home for £10! |
