Former Irish International Ward Training With Town
at 12:05:17

Decent plan B if we don't get Garbutt. Solid enough for a year or so, giving us time to find a longer term solution. Good to see us actually planning for contingencies rather than putting all our eggs in one basket as we have in the past.

Jackson Turns Down Contract Claim
at 10:03:30

I'd be tempted to sell if we get a decent offer. Don't get me wrong, I like him and he's been decent for us, but he doesn't fit into Lambert's preferred formation - doesn't look comfortable as a lone striker and not really a wide man. Add in the contract situation and Lambert's public desire to bring in a new striker and the money could be more useful to us than the player.

Harry Steps Down
at 09:08:52

The highlight of the pre-match build up, often the only preview I read. Cant imagine how many hours were spent researching every one of them. Many thanks for all your hard work over the years, Harry. I hope you know how much you're appreciated by so many people.

Lambert: 300 Games For One Club is a Brilliant Achievement
at 15:52:58

Best captain since Matt Holland. Shame other factors mean he hasn't been able to lead the club to the kind of successes some of his performances deserve.

Town Confirm Lambert Appointment
at 09:18:26

Can see why Evans thinks he's a good appointment, and every new manager deserves a chance. But his Budgie past might be problematic if things don't turn around soon, some of the knuckle draggers will be looking for any excuse to turn on him.

Town Sack Hurst as Lambert Set to Take Over
at 17:08:16

Really wanted him to work out, on paper he seemed to be the kind of young, up and coming manager we'd wanted to take us on to the next level. Initially unlucky, there were several games where we didn't get the results we deserved, but ultimately results don't lie and it's a decision that had to be made.

Academy Scholars to Study at St Joseph's College

I hope they've changed their philosophy since I was there. As a 10/11 year old I was a decent player, played for my previous school, etc. Not saying I'd have been good enough to turn professional, but with the right coaching who knows. But because I was a poor rugby player and hated cross country, they lost interest in me (and a number of others) from a sporting point of view for the 7 years I was there.

Online Player of the Year Voting Under Way
at 20:10:40

I have to agree with shortmarine, Sears is my choice too. I can't remember him having a poor game this season, even if his goal tally isn't as high as we (or he) would like. Admittedly, that's as much to do with other players ruling themselves out with too many under-par performances as him playing well though.

Luke Chambers Will Be a Town Legend
at 14:05:54

Without doubt, we've had better players both in his current position and his preferred central position. But I agree, as a captain, he's fantastic. No disrespect to any of his predecessors, but I think he's the best we've had for a long time - possibly since Matt Holland in the way he's built a bond with the supporters and gets the fans going. Here's to many more years of his fist pumps at Portman Road!

Town Topic: What Changes Would You Make?
at 16:13:26

[team: 778]

Subs: Gerken, Malarczyk, Douglas, Coke, Toure, Murphy and Pitman

Take Smith out of the firing line for a couple of weeks, restore Bart in goal, little tweak in the middle and off we go. Don't think we should be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, small changes are all that's needed.

Sammon Linked With Huddersfield Loan
at 15:41:26

I can understand why Derby might want him to go elsewhere, he's not getting that much more game time here than he would have done staying at Pride Park. But we'd need to move quickly to get another forward if he did move on. Not the best player ever, but he can do a job in an area in which we'd otherwise be lacking any real strength in depth.

Nouble Leaves Club

Can't really add much to what's already been said. Always put the effort in, but not quite at the standard we need ability wise. Good luck to him, hope he makes a go of it at his next club.

Bent Looking Forward to Return to Portman Road
at 21:38:46

Some people read far too much into innocuous comments. He's talking about coming back as a player, hence saying it was strange he hadn't been back and going on to talk about playing against us at Villa Park in the cup. Nothing more to it than that.

Joining the majority in wishing him a speedy recovery. The reception he got both before and during the Millwall match speaks volumes about the esteem in which he's held here, and his response shows it's clearly reciprocated. Hope he's able to play again in time.

Like him or not, and personally I think he's done a decent job so far this season, you can't fault his attitude. Comes across as a genuine guy who appreciates what he's got and is willing to work hard for it.

Posh Dismiss Nouble Link
at 22:56:18

Why was this not done in the summer? Simple. Throughout the summer, he was vying with Marriott to be 3rd choice striker and, with the uncertainty over when McGoldrick would be fit again, would definitely be getting game time. Then we signed Bajner and Sammon, relegating him to 5th choice and unlikely to feature for the first team for the foreseeable future.

Chief Scout McCall Leaves Town
at 13:23:19

Disappointing that we're letting go someone who's been such a loyal servant to club for so many years, but that's tempered by the knowledge that McCarthy has brought in his own people. These are people who he already knows and trusts, people who know how he thinks and will understand exactly what he's looking for. Ultimately, all other footballing appointments should be made with one aim - to ensure the manager can do the best job he can. If that means we have to bid a sad farewell to Steve McCall, so be it.
