Save me a scroll back on here - Penalty/dive edition

Had to settle for the delights of the BBC on Saturday. Both commentators and post-match analysis were unanimous it was a definite penalty.

Once, in his final season with us. Think it was at Forest, definitely a Sky game; I remember watching it in the pub and being shocked he'd been shown a card.

Has anyone visited more than one Ipswich?

Not been to another Ipswich, but did a double take when walking round Boston MA and saw Suffolk University.

Childcare costs
at 20:11 2 Aug 2023

Have you played about with the figures? Because of mine and my wife's odd working patterns, our boy alternates beyween 3 amd 4 days a week. By spreading the government payments over the full year, we'll only pay for about one day a fortnight (possibly a bit more), and overall it will cost us less than taking the larger term-time only support.

Initial fee we received was £3.75m. Any idea how much we received for appearances, etc.? Not suggesting we're due a massive windfall, but even £100k would be a welcome addition to our spending cap.

Does anyone know (Cruncher obvs) if we're signing TJJ?
at 08:35 29 Jun 2023

Danny John-Jules thought he'd already signed for us on a permanent deal when I talked to him a couple of weeks ago. Might be a sign he's expecting to come back, but could also be a busy uncle not being completely up to speed with the intricacies of his nephew's career.

Met Danny John-Jules in Nottingham a couple of weeks ago. As part of the conversation, he said he thought Tyreece had already joined us permanently. Now, that might just be a busy uncle not being able to keep up with everything, but I'm hoping it's more than that!

So what's everyone's " Sod's Law" fixture date ?

I'd hope not. But I have memories of it being moved to a Thursday night on Sky's say so, so it's not completely out of the question either.

Now praying Sky don't move the Norwich game to the Friday night. Only got two gigs all year (low for me) - Pulp is in July, so no clashes, but Madness is the Friday before the derby.

Worst Town XI

Not sure about other positions yet (although Marco Holster is always the first name that comes to mind), but a back 3 of Drissa Diallo, Georges Santos and Darren O'Dea would be enough to give most Town fans nightmares!

Second club?
at 12:34 8 Jun 2023

I wouldn't say support, I've only been to the stadium once, and that was a tour while on holiday rather than an actual match. But I do follow the fortunes of Valencia. They were my go-to team when I first played Champ in the late 90s, and they were everyone's favourite underdog in Europe around that time, so they sort of stuck.

The preview got me really excited - "The government has just 24 hours to hand over Boris Johnson". The actual story is still important, but could have been so much better!

I remember being surprised by the Anglia TV highlights referring to it as a straight red. My recollection at the time was seeing the ref show a yellow then a red, and the EADT report the next day had it as a second yellow.

Title or double century?
at 07:18 6 May 2023

The football gods offer you a choice. Either Town can win comfortably at Fleetwood, breaking the 100 goals & 100 points barrier, but Plymouth get an injury time winner to take the title, or Plymouth lose 1-0 but Town are frustrated and draw 0-0, so we take the title but end on 99 goals and 98 points. Which do you go for?

In a one-off game, the 2000 side probably shades it. But both competing in a 24-team league I think the current side would finish higher. There's more strength in depth, they can cope with the inevitable injuries and suspensions more easily.

My final league table
at 14:43 23 Mar 2023

Interesting that nobody dares predict below 90 for any of the top 4. For what it's worth, I've got:
Wednesday 99 +47 (final day defeat to Derby stops them getting 100 points)
Ipswich 98 +54
Plymouth 97 +35
Barnsley 95 +42
