Removing all federal protection for abortion and contraceptive rights in the USA.
Making it a State-led decision so can be politicised by the Republicans in the South in particular.
What a fecked up country the USA has become
The 1973 Roe decision was decided 7-2 and written by a Nixon appointee. The 1987 Casey decision upholding Roe was written by a Reagan appointee on a Court w/ 8 justices appointed by GOP presidents.
Rejecting Roe as “egregiously wrong” 50 yrs later = a radical, political act.
If the Alito opinion savaging Roe and Casey ends up being the Opinion of the Court, it will unravel many basic rights beyond abortion and will go further than returning the issue to the states: It will enable a GOP Congress to enact a nationwide ban on abortion and contraception.
Take ‘control’ of the Electoral Commission. The body that investigates electoral fraud and wrongdoing now in Tory hands.
It will get almost no publicity, but the government just won a vote to take control of the Electoral Commission. That’s right: Johnson will now wield ultimate power over another of the bodies designed to hold executive power in check. This is not a functioning democracy.
MTG is up to her neck in it, while denying it just a few days ago.
And still Trump is favourite to have the GOP nomination for 2024 when his literal Chief of Staff was working directly on the insurrection.
Motherlode of Meadows texts obtained by CNN includes this one fomr Marjorie Taylor Greene on Jan. 17 in which she says multiple colleagues advocated for Trump to declare martial law. https://t.co/8YNVqDtZcopic.twitter.com/GYXVPR5b6S
4/22/2022 hearing: Lawyer Celli: "Ms. Greene, did you advocate to President Trump to impose martial law as a way to remain in power?" Rep. Greene: "I don't recall." Celli: "So you're not denying you did it. You just don't remember?" Rep. Greene: "I don't remember" pic.twitter.com/12umtZ54y6
