My Best Town XI: Steve McCall

Brilliant team. Bit conflicted because big Al was my favourite. Would like to see a team selection from a few years before, Whymark, Woods, Hamilton, Johnson all very good players.

Disgraceful way to treat a true blue. Could be argued Marcus and Clegg got what they deserved. Unfortunately we're all having to suffer.

The Jim Magilton Interview - Part One

Lifts the spirits to see those clips. Top man Magic. Great player for us. Given more time as manager I'm sure we wouldn't be in the sorry mess we are now.

Excellent article. I was surprised to meet ML is his bus driving role. A very nice chap as well as a decent footballer.

Eric Gates and the Great Escape

Nice trip down memory lane. Pretty decent performance against Liverpool as we were 'missing' Burley, Butcher, Mills, Thijjsen, Wark, Muhren, Mariner & Brazil. Sadly this team still looked a lot better than anything what we've seen in recent years,

Season Ticket Total Just Misses 12,000 Mark
at 09:48:43

I didn't buy the ST thinking I was going to get a discount. As the target was missed I'm not expecting any. However, simple maths would show that the club will garner more income from 11700+ sales than it would from 14000 discounted at 20%. By my calculations ME could give 5% as a goodwill gesture. Or spend it on improving the ticket ordering process.

Unfortunately the ticket office (in Planet Blue) offer little encouragement. Won't reserve seats so mates can sit together and have no idea of numbers sold.

Lambert: Club Needs to Be Rebuilt, Some Players Will Go
at 16:46:41

Understandable negativity on here, but lots of differing views how best to address our woes. ME almost certainly took us on thinking it would be a perfect advertising vehicle for his business empire. This would have been acceptable to all if successful. Unfortunately his managerial appointments have been varying degrees of woeful. But what do the ME outers want/expect to happen? Who is going to pay for a club hurtling downwards? PL rightly states previous manager was wrong bringing in too many new faces, yet says he needs to bring in many more! Many blames the old guard, yet Gerken, Chambers, Knudsen & Skuse weren't playing yesterday. He may not be up to much but it can't all be Spence's fault. Lots of questions but no answers. Ask Jim Magilton to lift the curse. Pray.

Rangers Weighing-Up Town Windass Bid - Reports

Bart staying, Donacien, Chalobah, Edwards, Harrison, Roberts, Edun, Nolan, Nsiala, Jackson and Windass? What on earth is our penny pinching chairman doing? Surely something there for everyone to be happy about? COYB

Derby Latest Club to Target Waghorn
at 07:29:09

Lots of comments on here stating we mustn't recruit from League 1,2 if we sell our prize assets. Yet it's where these very players came from. OK Waghorn/Garner from Scotland, but similar standard. Same for Mings and Webster both sold on for huge profit.. Just because there is interest in our better players doesn't mean we'll sell them, remember McGoldrick £11 million bid rejected. Then amusingly after his injuries ME gets told he should have sold him. Very easy to find fault. Have some faith in ME and the new manager. COYB

Gerrard Linked With Blues Job
at 10:21:05

The only managerial appointment that I can recall that met with almost universal approval was Roy Keane. Ramsey (no experience) Robson (sacked) and Burley (lower league) were not greeted with great enthusiasm. So not bothered if ME choice gets lukewarm response, just hope its 4th time lucky.

Milne: News on Manager and Season Tickets Will Come Together in Next Couple of Weeks
at 14:17:41

McCarthy has had reasonable results on the budget available, has made good deals in transfer market and has been unlucky with injuries. However, even if he had a Keane sized budget I doubt he would play attractive football. What we need is investment in the pitch and an inspired managerial change. Unfortunately the record of Evans in this respect is not at all good. Allowing Burley to take temporary charge and to oversee the next manager may work.

Town 0-1 Rotherham - Match Report
at 21:33:50

@warktheline, just saying that if Evans hadn't come along we would be £80m or so in debt and likely doing a Luton. He made the biggest mistake by sacking Jim and appointing Keane, although I don't recall many complaints at the time. I gave up on my season ticket then and haven't been too many times since, every time I do go it seems to have got worse which is why I would seek advice from someone who knows the Ipswich way.

Town 0-1 Rotherham - Match Report
at 18:55:54

We should remember Evans saved us from financial ruin and years in the wilderness and continues to bankroll, and McCarthy, who wouldn't have been my choice, has done a hell of a lot better than Jewell or Keane. So I think some of the abuse is OTT. But truth is we would surely have been better off had Magilton been given more time, remember he signed Walters and McAuley both done well in Premier. But we must look to the future, maybe get Burley to advise on new manager?

Town 1-0 Birmingham
at 09:35:09

In fairness, seeing they attract a lot of negativity, I thought Tabb and Nouble both put in a good shift. Green was quite impressive, good touch, didn't panic when put under pressure. Defence generally solid, with Berra outstanding. Taylor was very good, mom, link up and covering as well as attacking play. Suspect his of field antics / attitude haven't impressed MM but he should be given a extended run now, a second chance.
