Just home
at 23:11 9 Mar 2024

I'm taking not having a midweek game as a positive.

After a very long week travelling to Plymouth, then a midweek home game and then travelling again to Cardiff the players need a rest. Today's performance looked fatigued and im sure that despite having much better travel arrangements than us supporters, it does take it out of the players.

The win against Bristol City was a huge effort by the team to come back from behind twice, that could have easily been another two points dropped.

We have spent the whole season keeping the pace with teams who are far better equipped than us, which must be sapping for the players.

Time to have a bit of a rest, get the Sheff Weds game out of the way, and then for those who can, to recharge during the international break for the final 8 game run-in.

Whatever happens from here, it's been an amazing season!

Bristol City up and coming
at 19:51 25 Feb 2024

As an Ipswich fan living in the SW and working in Bristol, I concur.

I also find the opinions of the blue side of Bristol to be a lot more balanced and sensible than those on the red side of the city. The hatred for Mark Ashton gets in the way of any sensible discussion about the delights of McKennaball.

Have we talked about the Ref today?
at 23:46 24 Feb 2024

The lino on the Cobbold side was terrible, there were a few occasions when he was behind the play and missed some blatant offside calls (including the one that Burgess was booked for).

There was also the incident in the second half where a town player was a good two yards offside and the lino didn't flag until after the ref (who was still in the other half of the pitch) blew up for the offside.

Home in 3 hours 10 mins today

I'm a little south of you, in the Forest of Dean, so go via Bristol and the M4/M25/A12.

A great run in both directions today, about 3.5 hours each way to/from Bristol, where I meet with my travelling companions.

Looking forward to a couple of relatively close away games coming up. Plymouth 2 hours and Cardiff about an hour.

Going back to vinyl
at 14:21 5 Jan 2024

I've been buying vinyl for over 40 years. I wouldn't consider myself a collector, I just prefer the format as I find it more audiably and physically pleasing.

Over recent years, the cost of vinyl has become insane, with new release albums often aproaching almost £50 compared to £15 for a CD.

I tend to buy music that I like on CD and music that I love on Vinyl, this keeps the cost down considerably. I also stream music when I am working from home or otherwise occupied and just using the music for background.

Watching the Stoke highlights - can anyone confirm whether Thompson was
at 13:57 2 Jan 2024

I was hoping he had been booked for deliberate handball. But then they still got the free kick.

This thing for grabbing the ball when you think you have been fouled, should be stamped out. The ref is being forced to make a decision, and I don't think I have ever seen one give handball.

Your first derby game attended
at 21:46 15 Dec 2023

Almost 50 years supporting Town, and never been able to get to a derby game.
Untill tomorrow, and I can't wait!

Cost and distance was always a factor in the past as I left East Anglia at 18 and have never lived close since.
Went for my first ever season ticket last season and of course, renewed for this season. What a couple of seasons so far! Worth every hour sat in the car between Gloucestershire and Portman Road (and most away games).

The Christmas Naaaarch song.
at 11:12 13 Dec 2023

It was just about enough for an old duffer like me to pick up the words and be able to join in.

Having now got the song in the heads of 2000+ away fans, who sit all around Portman Road, it should be easier to get it going on Saturday in a packed out ground.

Good work BA, I loved it at the game last night.

14 different goal scorers in the league

It's also the goal distribution. Top goalscorers in the league, but our top goalscoring players (Chaplin and Broadhead) are only on 6 goals each.

NORWICH (H) TICKET DETAILS
at 17:33 21 Nov 2023

What's to stop a Norwich supporter at the start of the season buying a membership to try to get a ticket in the home end, in the knowledge they won't be able to get one in the away end? It makes for an expensive ticket, but I'm sure it's been considered.

The solution is to make sure that those who get priority actually go to home games. This seems to be the best solution to keep the home areas to only home fans. I'm guessing it's not about penalising people, but more about ensuring proper segregation.

Not often I say this about Australian sport

I have three Indian colleagues on my team at work. They will be insufferable if India win.

I therefore hope they do win, as I love seeing my work friends happy!

Win, lose or draw, we are better than them.

That's all that really matters.

Did Edmundson get lucky?
at 15:38 29 Oct 2023

This is exactly how I see it from looking at the replays. There is no contact from Fridge until the Plymouth player is on his way down and moves his leg across to ensure that there is contact.
Failed to con the ref, which is surprising as they were getting away with it all game.

The short footage in that video has been carefully selected so as not to show the entire incident.

Maybe they can do the same over-analysis on the panalty that they won at home to Derby last season? Some you win, some you lose...

About to head off for Brizzle
at 12:28 25 Oct 2023

I work about 25 minutes from Ashton Gate, on the other side of Bristol.

City fans in the office are saying that they were very poor on Saturday, when they beat Coventry and that they were very lucky to get anything from the game.
Also heard that the Bristol fans have been complaining that they sell too many away tickets so the away fans are too loud and overpower their own support?!

90 minutes+ of constant singing then...

Bristol roll call; Pre-match pubs; Backing the boys to energise after 18 days
at 21:15 23 Oct 2023

I work on the edge of Bristol (Filton) so about a 25 minute drive to the match for me.

Hoping to catch up with some of the SW group pre match, but also meeting up with a couple of City supporting work colleagues for a beer near the ground.

A must win game (for bragging rights at work) and so that we can watch Mark Ashton's lap of honour at the end.

Rotherham rearranged!!!
at 18:45 23 Oct 2023

I couldn't make it last week, due to a clash of appointments, but will be able to make the re-arranged fixture.

What's the normal arrangement for tickets, will the club just put any returns back on resale unannounced, or will they open some new priority windows for returns? I expect that the fact the game is now on a Tuesday night (and not that far in the future) will make it awkward for some fans to make the new date.

Bristol City away

Just mentioning Mark Ashton at work seems to trigger most City fans I work with.

90 minutes of "Mark Ashton's Blue 'n' White Army" should go down a treat.

Preston vlog has some pretty good drone footage of the ground
at 18:59 8 Oct 2023

I'm in Cobbold Block B, and to be fair, I could barely hear the away fans when Preston scored.
I guess the noise just doesn't travel around the ground very weel, as where I was sitting the North Stand and Block A sounded very loud. That noise is also starting to spread through Blocks B and C.

It's 2023 Herbers
at 18:55 8 Oct 2023

That's about the same as it woulod cost me to get the train from my Gloucestershire home to the match. It costs me around £50 to do the same journey in the car. I am also about 10 miles from my local rail station.

Yesterday there were four of us in the car, so the journey via train would have cost in the region of £320. Ths car is still around £50 in fuel regardless of the number of passengers.

If you want to encourage people to use publc transport, then make it affordable. As long as it is chepaer (by far) to drive than take the train, then I'm sticking to using the car.
