The Mirror has fired up its own supercomputer and published the final table for the upcoming season. Town fans need to forget about any chance of celebrations next May because according to The Mirror we're going to finish 15th. Wycombe and MK Dons are going up automatically. |

I can see why you say that. We're 5 points behind the leaders and only 132 points left to fight for. We're doomed! 🤔 |

Ok. ÃŽn that case I apologise for my misunderstanding. I too am disappointed in how Michael Jacobs has been treated. I don't think this situation, as it has been reported, reflects well on the club. |

Getting greedy now. I don't think we're in a position yet to pay good money on fees and salaries for back up players, or so other teams can't play them against us. |

I was there, and if my memory serves me well the other players were Alan Brazil and Kevin O'Callaghan. A great night! RIP PM. A true legend. Paul Cooper was also there. It was December 15th 1982 and the players were on stage for Born To Kill and Helter Skelter. [Post edited 11 Jul 2021 13:35]

Firstly, let me confirm that I'm not suggesting that ITFC are competing at the same level as the Premier League clubs, in fact they're barely playing the same game, but I don't see many PL fans complaining that that they don't have many local lads playing for their first teams. Players like Foden at Man City and TA-A at Liverpool are generally exceptions to the rule. I think that we may be a little too parochial in thinking we should have a proportion of local lads, or people who have come through OUR development system playing for OUR club. The most important thing to my mind is getting players in that bring success to the club, not worrying about the route they took getting here. |

I would suggest that it's been a very long time since we have been miles ahead of clubs like Preston and Barnsley. Admittedly they have both spent time in the league where we find ourselves now, but we have spent 5 out of 29 seasons in the Premier League, the most recent being 19 years ago. I think that we should accept that Ipswich Town is a club roughly the same size as those two, albeit with a much larger catchment area due to the number of clubs in Yorkshire and Lancashire, and to suggest that loaning players from those clubs is in some way a measure of how far we have fallen an insult to two clubs that happen to be maintaining a level of acceptable performance while we're not. |
