Wayne Kramer RIP
at 00:07 7 Feb 2024

A brilliant musician, RIP.

I was lucky enough to see an incarnation of MC5 (with Kramer on guitar and Mark Arm of Mudhoney singing), what a great gig.

Enriching Tory donors, they're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Another one I've thought of which confuses my wife, pronuciation of the word "fella" which sounds more light "fullah" in Suffolk, has anyone noticed that?

In conversation sounds like "Are you alroight fullah?"

My favourite from family is my Nan, she greets us by saying "Are you alright there together?" My wife wondered what she was talking about first time they met and she's only from Norwich.

Apart from some already mentioned I really like "cor-teh-hike" (I'm not sure if that's written down correctly, but my Grandad used to use it a lot to express surprise, usually when something was too expensive!) Me and my wife both use rum or rummen a lot, so that might be East Anglian rather than just Suffolk.

I didn't even realise this was a Suffolk thing until the other day, I've used it all my life. People not from here must wonder what on earth I'm talking about.

Anyone see Bob Vylan at Latitude?
at 10:30 26 Jul 2023

I only went for the day on Friday but would have watched them had I been there (grime seems to have been as close to punk as we've had for a while, so to fuse the two genres really works I think). Didn't know that frontman Bobby was a Town fan!

My old Form Tutor was from Glasgow but also lived in Leith for a while. He had some rum stories (this was several years ago mind).

Queens of the Stone Age last night

I'm not a big Elton John fan, but appreciate the enormity of last night and his dedication to music for decades. All that said even though I'm not a big fan I seemed to know most of the songs he was playing last night (I watched the first 45 minutes), which says something! I will probably catch up more of his set too. There's so much to watch still.

I've seen them live a few times, but not for a few years now. Footage I've seen of them in more recent years, they seemed to be missing something. Whatever they were missing was there in spades last night, it was like old QotSA. Relly impressive.

Queens of the Stone Age last night

Did anyone watch them over Elton John last night (appreciate I'm in the minority here)?

I'm slightly biased as they were one of the big bands I got into as a teenager, but it seemed like a real return to form for them. One of the best sets I've seen all weekend and I've enjoyed a lot this year. Highlights for me were In The Fade (decicated to Mark Lanegan) and Song for the Dead at the end was brutal with the crowd properly going off.

Second club?
at 00:30 9 Jun 2023

No but have been to watch a few clubs with Norwich supporting mates, mostly non-league.

Norwich United was the most dull. No one seemed to care there and it's in Blofield just outside of Norwich and not close to a whole lot.

My favourite is Great Yarmouth Town. A pretty low standard, but a good bar, lovely vintage stand (as with a lot of Yarmouth, great architechure but in this case has been preserved) and some great local fans who were very welcoming.

The one that bakfired is Cambridge United. Cambridge is a good day out if you know where to go and avoid the tourist centre areas, so we've been a few times. It lead to mockey when we ended up in the same league though.

It is appalling what is happening there.

There seems to be growing resistance to what is happening among Israeli's now, but any dissent is met with beatings by far-right thugs (both civilian and army).

Seeing the reaction to Saturday
at 11:36 6 Feb 2023

I can see it happening, I hope you're wrong but it would be the most Ipswich thing ever wouldn't it? After Saturday, we have a run of five games on paper we should be winning, then three tougher games. I predict we'll do better in the tougher ones and find a way to screw up the 'easier' ones. I don't know what's going on, but I hope arrogance hasn't set in and we're expecting to win without putting any effort in.

Plymouth are stuttering now just as we are, so I think Derby will take the 2nd spot. It's not impossible for us, but it's not looking likely is it?

I wouldn't be surprised if the playoffs are us, Plymouth, Bolton and Barnsley, which could lead to a redo of 2000. I am not confident though, our playoff record is shocking!

Any good phone deals at the mo?
at 11:22 1 Feb 2023

My wife has a Pixel (4a I believe?) and whilst it's a couple of years old the camera still holds up.

My mate has a newer Pixel (6 or possibly 6a) and loves the camera on that too, so if it's a good camera and a 'vanilla' User Interface without loads of extra junk installed I think they're very good phones.

Tea and coffee

I like both too, agree it seems pretty common. Coffee morning up to lunchtime (as it does give me a bit of a buzz) then tea afternoon and evening (though I have a cut-off for black tea early evening and move to more la-di-da teas like peppermint or green so I can sleep).

Ipswich based Big Drop do far superior AF beers to BrewDog's AF beers, give them a go (they're pretty widely stocked). BrewDog started well, but across the board it is noticeable their flagship beers are seriously watered down these days (to the point where even Aldi's fake versions taste better than the beers they're imitating).

67 People arrested at the Queen's Funeral
at 12:29 20 Sep 2022

I have to admit I got taken in by that one. Saw the footage of him being arrested and thought it was an honest mistake on his part and very heavy handed by the Police.

When you look at the other angle though, he deliberately dodges one copper then goes past a 'Road Closed' sign. They really had no choice but to be heavy handed as it looked like he might be targeting the motorcade from the other angle.
