Ipswich Town 0-2 Rotherham United - Highlights
at 16:29:43

No width on the right side leaving our right back chronically exposed. Huws and Keane very poor - are they fit? We needed first half subs when it became clear that these two were not going to play much part in the game. Huws was at best ponderous and seemed unable to tackle or move the ball forward when it was passed to him whilst Keane didn't seem able to get his feet off the ground. Far too many long balls from our keeper just being picked off by the Rotherham centre backs. What has happened to playing the ball out from the back?

Milne: Stay With Mick
at 19:42:20

We were told at school that football is basically about passing the ball along the ground to another player wearing the same coloured shirt. Surely this concept holds true at all levels of the game. A friend asked me today to say what is wrong with our team. I told him everything - players with all skill coached out of them, complete lack of direction from management, dreadful team selection (Best and Douglas would struggle in a Div 2 side), no passion - what more is there to say. If Marcus Evans really wants s to be more than a loss for tax on his group balance sheet he needs to step in now with some real money for quality players e.g a few more Tom Lawrences. Otherwise he needs to sell up and let someone else try.

McCarthy Delighted With Whole Team
at 20:59:13

This was a solid display by Pitman who can surely go on to cement a regular place in the side and have a good season. Really cannot say the same about Teddy Bishop. I know the lad has been out for a long time but we virtually played with 10 men during the 20 or so minute that he was on the field. I think that he only touched the ball 2 or 3 times. The lad has class and skill but you also need fitness, endeavour and bite in this league. Maybe a longer spell in the Under 23's will do the trick.

McCarthy Delighted With Trio's Impact
at 11:43:54

I fully endorse MM's feelings about Hunt and Bru. Thought they were both splendid on Saturday. Still have massive misgivings about Tabb who seems to spend a lot of time watching the play going on around him rather than getting stuck in. I am particularly nervous when MM brings him on as a sub in the last quarter of a game when we need strong tackling ball winners to keep the ball in the opponents half. Tabb and Parr together couldn't stop Huddersfield's winger.
Do others see something in Tabb that I don't? He wouldn't even be on the bench if I was picking the squad.

Tunnicliffe Joins Wigan
at 11:17:11

Not worried about losing Tunnicliffe and agree that Green will be good for us with a few games. However my heart sinks when I turn up at Portman Road to find either Tabb or Nouble in the team (even worse both). Priskin played some terrible games for Town but even his worst performance was eclipsed by Tabb against Blackpool and it surely is not unreasonable to expect a big lad like Nouble to win some ball in the air. Let's see Taylor up front with Murphy on Saturday with Hunt, Green, Skuse and Hyam in midfield. We won't be going up or down this season so let's have the loan players (particularly Marriot) back and give them a first team chance.

McCarthy Looking to Add to Defensive Options
at 20:25:01

ChrisMakinin2012 is absolutely right. No point in keeping Tabb, Anderson, Nouble or Wordsworth. To get promotion we need players who are above average at Championship level or have the potential to be above average. None of these players meet those criteria. One creative midfielder who can carry the ball from defense and make the key pass to a forward would massively improve our team. So often the Central defenders pass sideways to each other or hump the ball up field because no unmarked midfield player makes themselves available. Leicester City showed us the way to play the ball from defense through mid-field along the ground.

McCarthy: Hyam Should Ignore Negativity
at 18:24:59

Lots of valid comments. Luke Hyam gives 100% all the time and probably covers more ground than anybody else on the pitch. However he is no longer in the category of "youngster" at age 22 and has had a lot of first team experience. As such he shouldn't be too upset by constructive criticism although the boo boys at Saturday's game should be ashamed of themselves - at the game we support the players whether they are playing well or not. On TWTD we can surely say that at this particular game Luke's passing was poor and he continuously frustrated the crowd by passing backwards when there was space in front of him. His confidence was evidently low but with MM's guidance he will still be a great asset this season.

Town 1-1 Barnsley
at 10:14:04

Flair, passion, skill all missing. No pressure on Barnsley in the second half because we didn't play the ball along the floor out of defence. We need midfielders who can fetch the ball from defenders and carry it along the ground to feed the forwards i.e. the simple stuff that we were taught in school football. Hyam, Tabb, Anderson, Taylor and Woody not good enough to make us serious contenders for a top 6 place.

Reo-Coker Talks Set to Begin
at 14:00:10

Can anybody see a good reason to keep him? Perhaps he shows promise in training that we do not see. For me there are three negatives - he slows the game down, passes inconsistently and keeps Hyam out of the team. If we do sign him let's hope it's only until the end of the season.

Chambers and Orr Emerge as Doubts for Millwall Clash
at 17:18:24

Don't see Rio-Coker as much of a loss. He slows the game too much when he is on the ball. Have seen Moshni a few times at Southend. Lots of talent if he can control his aggression and not get booked/sent off. He probably needs a run at Centre back in a game that is already won.

Luke Hyam was good but surely Tommy Smith should have been Man of the Match!
The balance of the team is looking much better, we just need a right-side Centre Back who is tall and can head the ball.

Jewell: We're Nowhere Near Good Enough At the Moment
at 14:56:27

Last night's performance should have told PJ that the 4-1-4-1 formation that we played in the first half, with Chops completely isolated up front, does not work. Couldn't defend crosses, midfielders continuously passing backwards, no pace ... need I go on. Our best player was Luongo who we are bringing on for Spurs next season.

Jewell: We\'re In There Fighting For Jimmy
at 17:16:35

In the past few years we have seen quality defenders such as Bruce, MacAuley, Harding, David Wright and youngsters with potential like Eastman leaving the club whilst Wilnis and De Vos retired. With no strategy to bring in quality replacements is it really surprising that we cannot defend at Championship level.
We shouldn't be blaming PJ because the damage was being done before he joined us. Apart from 3 defenders we need wide midfielders who can get back and defend

Jewell: Formation May Work Better Away
at 09:31:58

I think we would have gone in a couple of goals up at half time if Chopra had had somebody up front with him.
Can't see any point in playing JET in a wide position. He is far too lazy to run back and tackle and too slow to get to the corner flag and deliver a cross.
Hopefully we will see him in a more central role tomorrow
