| News Comment | Jewell: Teamsheet Will Reveal Leadbitter's Decision at 18:14:15
Some people need to be a bit realistic - both Drury and Hyam are inconsistent, Bullard who knows what, and Stevenson is as yet unproven. Where will the drive and goals come from midfield next season? Add Martin and Emmanuel-Thomas, both of whose goal per game return is poo, and we will be very short of goals for. How many new players will we need next season? |
| News Comment | Leeds Linked With Edwards at 09:39:44
Edwards has done well this season and should be offered a contract within the club's pay structure. However he does not cover his centre backs like a good full back should, Cresswell is the same. They are both better attacking. In reality if we are to tighten up at the back we need a new back four and a goalkeeper. Smith and Cresswell have potential but will make mistakes and need to learn from experienced colleagues. |
| News Comment | Talks Continue With Portsmouth Regarding Trio at 15:18:49
It is becoming more apparent that talks are not at an advanced stage and that the players have yet to be spoken to. No indications they will want to come here so it looks like we will have to soldier on with the players already here, whatever that might bring! |
| News Comment | Jewell Envious of Palace\'s Pace at 09:25:16
Commenting about lack of pace is fair but what about width. Playing wider would have made Palace think a bit more and could have provided more crosses for the strikers. Opposing teams seem to have worked out how to nullify the diamond quite easily. |
| News Comment | Sonko Impressed With New Defensive Partner at 16:45:25
Garv - are you saying Edwards was superb on Saturday with regard to the rest of the team or as a right back. He has never looked like a good right back to me. |
| News Comment | Jewell: We Need to Learn to Grind Out Draws at 10:45:04
Why not put pressure on the opponents, particularly at Portman Road. We have a quality striker at the club who is getting no service whatsoever - he could end up scoring less than Scotland last season. Until we get this defensive mindset out of the club we will struggle in matches. The tactics must be positive to win. |
| News Comment | Jewell: We Need to Stop Feeling Sorry for Ourselves at 22:22:25
Did not go or listen to radio so can only pick up from comments on here. My major concern is that Ipswich under Paul jewell has never attacked opponents until a goal or more behind. Why not put the other team under pressure from the start? Marcus Evans has provided adequate funds for players to improve the squad but still there is no commitment to attack. Chopra will not score 10 goals this season unless there is a change in tactics. |
| News Comment | Tune for the Town? at 15:38:13
No music. The PA in the Britannia anyway is not fit for purpose as quality of audio is awful. |
| News Comment | Jewell: We\'re In There Fighting For Jimmy at 10:24:55
Two centre backs required for the weekend against Leeds or keogh and McCormick will slaughter us. Two full backs who cover and defend properly also required (too early to say if cresswell can do this). We cannot go beyond transfer window without these otherwise future is bleak. As for Bullard where will he play if signed. Will it mean Bowyer will be another Campo (i.e. good contract but not played); was Bowyer injured Saturday? |
| News Comment | Jewell: We\'re In There Fighting For Jimmy at 17:55:28
Excellent blog and good to see thought being applied from a Town fan. Hopefully all will get behind the team next Saturday. Diffucult to predict a team / line up for Saturday at present. If Deadline day passes with no additions we will be in trouble. Paul Jewell has dug himself into a hole - can he esape from it? |
| News Comment | Town Watching West Brom Defender at 10:41:45
Not considering the merits of this until he actually is signed. Too much rumour and little substance. We need something different for tomorrow!! |
| News Comment | Liddell Joins as Fitness Coach at 18:36:02
Providing he is competent this should fill a gap in the performance levels of the players. Obviously a few are currently below the fitness expected, noticeable last Saturday when we could not step it up towards the end of the game. Good luck to the new boy. |
| News Comment | Bullard\'s Hull Contract Terminated at 15:53:06
It was clear earlier in the year that Hull wanted to get Bullard off their payroll. It was also apparent that Bullard wanted a way to leave Hull whilst not losing too much of his contract. Hull seem to have found a reason, hence the current situation. Tribunals in these matters can sometimes take a long time, remember Alan Curbishley. Therefore Bullard will not be able to work until the tribunal verdict, after all he could be reinstated. Ipswich should forget about him until the outcome of the tribunal. The longer it goes on the less appealing he will become as his match fitness diminishes. Paul Jewell has more important issues to sort out at present. |
| News Comment | Jewell: Fans Must Be Fed Up of Transfer Talk at 12:34:21
The organisation of an adequate defence is the responsibiliy of the management. So far that has not happened, hence frustration by supporters and some of the players, clearly visible on Tuesday. We all support Ipswich in our own way. Moaning at individual players is not very productive, they are doing their best until someone better is employed. The majority of fans support Paul Jewell but are showing their annoyance at the continued inability to recruit defenders. It might not be easy but has got to happen before transfer deadline. |
| News Comment | Sonko Waiting for Town Offer at 08:49:27
The club has suffered the lack of a solid defence for a number of seasons. Letting McAuley, Brown and Eastman go and signing Cresswell (good to date but still a lot to learn) and Ingimarsson (injured) has not improved the situation. The current defence is poor, both in individual and collective terms, and it must raise questions as to who is the defence coach and what are they doing on a daily basis. As far as I can see none of the current senior management team played as a defender. Similarly the lack of a fitness coach has not helped. If new players are recruited now it will take some time for them to settle into the club and form a cohesive unit. Some, possibly like Sonko, may not currently be match fit. This is all the fault of the managment and will be remembered when "the push for Premier League " is outlined in the season tiket renewal letter. |
| News Comment | Shotton Not On at 12:26:14
Obviously looking for quality players but may now need to look for good to average as there are glaring gaps in the squad. Needs to be asap as other teams will soon learn to exploit these weaknesses. |
| News Comment | Jewell Wants More Goals from Central Defenders at 11:07:20
The biggest problem Saturday was the passing i.e. too many long balls. There was not too much shouting from the bench when the long ball was used, so I assume the long ball policy must come from the manager. Get the ball down to feet and Town will look a much better team. |
