| News Comment | Young Duo on Trial at QPR at 15:40:45
Last summer I was on a work related course in an hotel on the Loughborough University campus. The West Ham u-18s were there as well. The hotel had been instructed to put out lots of healthy eating options for them, which they did, but all the lads were interested in doing was shovelling crisps, fizzy drinks and cake down their gobs. Their coaches were no better. I hope that this youngster has more self-discipline. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-2 Bristol City - Match Report at 08:55:00
A wonderful win, but another two goals conceded at home. That means that we have now conceded 29 goals from 18 home matches, an average of 1.6 per game. Only Plymouth have a worse record, even the teams in the relegation spots are letting in fewer. I hope that we are promoted, but I fear what will happen if we are and the defence is not improved substantially. |
| News Comment | European Clubs 'Monitoring' Hutchinson at 12:01:24
It is said (denied by them) that Chelsea need to raise £100 million by the end of June to comply with their financial fair play requirements. Selling home grown players is important as the fee is treated as pure profit. |
| News Comment | McKenna: My Full Focus and Commitment is On Town at 16:24:05
I was watching a YouTube video recently and a football finance expert pointed out that Leicester have their squad valued on their books at £400 million whilst Ipswich have spent £10 million. Look, KMC is like the rest of us. If he is offered promotion to a Prem Club with all its resources and a huge increase in wages then he will go; wouldn’t you? We will just have to get on with it and find a new manager (just like Brighton do). |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Al-Hamadi Signing at 09:15:39
I welcome him to Suffolk and I hope that he has a long and fulfilling career with us. However, whilst he has potential it is just that; potential. We need someone who can do a job for us NOW. It is a long step up from League Two. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 Maidstone United - Match Report at 16:14:17
Well done Maidstone. They defended in depth and hit us on the break twice; limited football, but very effective. Our system needs a target man: Hirst is too injured, Aluko too old, Buabo too raw and Ladapo too on loan to another club. We need at least one signing. |
| News Comment | Gallagher Move Stalls at 09:46:19
For: Tall Strong Experienced Championship player Hard-working. Against: Significant (by our standards) fee High wages (we are subject to FFP) Poor goal scoring record, just 32 goals in 157 games for Blackburn (comparisons with Hirst in exact as Hirst was a young player in his first Championship season) Older than we would usually go for, so little prospect of a sell on fee Just back from a significant injury |
| News Comment | Mowbray: I Think Stansfield Wants to Stay Here at 09:35:36
Get off the lad’s back! He is a Fulham employee on loan to Birmingham. He is only 21 and may never have been to Ipswich in his life. He will have to do what Fulham want. If being happy at Birmingham simply means that he is not trying to cause trouble to get a move then that is a good thing. |
| News Comment | Keeper Hayes Extends Solihull Loan at 08:38:05
Price only played 68 times in four years, Supple just 34 times in four years. Neither could be described as regulars. |
| News Comment | Keeper Hayes Extends Solihull Loan at 21:38:29
We seem to be very bad at bringing through young ‘keepers; the last must have been Richard Wright some 20 years ago. |
| News Comment | Tomasson: No Problem With Travis at 14:46:51
So he insists on playing every week in central midfield and his wages are one of the highest in their squad? Sounds like trouble to me, but KMc knows best. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Sarmiento Loan Signing at 17:05:00
Has anyone watched the Blue Monday podcast on potent centre forward targets? It is very interesting, but none of the names mentioned really appealed to me. There was one name that occurred to me that they didn’t mention; Josh Sargent (Norwich). He is 23 and 6 foot 1 tall, he has Championship experience scoring goals in a poor He is quick and powerful. Would Norwich sell? They have large debts, a high cost base and diminishing parachute payments. According to TNC podcast, the Norwich hierarchy has given up on this season. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Sarmiento Loan Signing at 14:26:19
It was said before the window that we had some room within FFP for signings. All we have done since then is to swop Scarlett for Scarmiento, so we should still have some room. Obviously, it will be difficult to compete with the parachute clubs for players. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Sarmiento Loan Signing at 09:42:44
Len Brennan; agree that Charlie Hughes sounds like a quality young player, but he is under contract until 2028 and so would be difficult/expensive to prise away. |
