Town Eyeing Connolly Return
at 14:18:30

We should never have let him go!

I would welcome him back along with Waghorn.

The other signing that I would like to see is Cameron Carter-Vickers. He did well with us when on loan a few years ago and is now being released by Spurs.

Cook: To Go Away From Home and Win Was Important
at 18:51:30

Drifter3012; I agree. The easy part will be telling the underperforming players to go away, the more difficult ones will be recruiting suitable replacements and making them into a successful team.

Blues Among Clubs Linked With Crewe Forward Dale
at 19:03:33

ArnieM; perhaps none, but Blackburn and Preston are Championship clubs. In any event, my point was that we are not an especially attractive proposition given the shambles that we are in.

Europablue; I really really hope that the vision proves convincing. I fear that players who have other options will go elsewhere unless paid an awful lot of money.

Blues Among Clubs Linked With Crewe Forward Dale
at 16:39:38

FPL-tractor, yes, there are no doubt players that we really want, but we will have to pay big money for them (especially wages).

There may be players released from London sides, but do we want them? Presumably they will have been released for a reason (e.g. they are no good, inexperienced, bad injury record, etc).

Blues Among Clubs Linked With Crewe Forward Dale

This illustrates the problem with the “sack everyone” approach.

The easy bit is telling the loanees and out of contract players to get lost.

The next bit is to recruit a new team. If you were a talented young player like Owen Dale, presumably living in the north-west, and you have the choice of two Championship clubs, a League One club such as Sunderland which is in the play-offs or us with several years of failure behind us, which would you choose?

Wigan Confirm Richardson as Permanent Boss

First Lambert without his assistant, now Cook without his.

I would ask everyone to remember that it is all very well to say sack all the players, but we will have to get new ones in. If the Club is in an utter shambles that will be difficult (unless we offer the new signings huge amounts of money).

Judge: Not the Way I Wanted to End My Time at Town

The Club knew that one more start would trigger a contract extension (as did he). The Club took the view that he wasn’t worth retaining and told him so. It happens, both parties move on.

Cook: Judge Offered to Waive One-Year Option

With regards to Phil’s post, I would be sorry if Matheson has gone; young lad came in, did well for two games then disappeared when Chambers was fit again. Matheson deserved better.

Downes: We Should Be Winning Games Like This Easily, It's Not Good Enough
at 16:05:18

We have a captain, but he prefers to send Downes out to face the media following a 3-0 defeat to the mighty Wimbledon.

We also conceded three goals, presumably as a central defender, Chambers would accept some responsibility (if he could be bothered to do his media job).

The rot starts from the top of the player group. How anyone should think that Chambers should be given a new contract is beyond me.

Cook: Hopefully We'll Soon See Luke Back on a Football Pitch Smiling
at 18:12:44

I am sorry to hear that he has been ill.

It is good that he has sought help and it takes courage to make these things public.

However, it does raise significant issues about our recruitment policy. He was signed only a couple of months ago. Surely we knew of the problems or ought to have known of them?

Ipswich Town 0-0 MK Dons - Match Report

The players just aren’t good enough. The likes of Chambers, Ward, Skuse and Sears should have been given their marching orders ages ago.

We must not be “nice”. Either prove yourself on the pitch or be thrown out.
