Shoutout to the second goal last night
at 08:52 3 Apr 2025

Proper McKenna goal. Overlapping LB, Delap runs into the "Chaplin position" at the edge of the box, opposing defender assumes it's going across the front of the goal and leaves Townsend with that lovely little cut back for Delap to smash in. Beautiful stuff and we've not seen it work often enough this season.

Worth remembering that City are
at 17:52 19 Jan 2025

Really, really good, and even in their worst season in years, this takes them above Newcastle who have just won eight in a row or something.

And they have been doing this to promoted teams for years, Guardiola's record is astonishingly good against the promoted teams, we are no exception.

This won't decide our relegation and McKenna won't let it affect the players.

Don't lose your heads.

So good to see us not just sitting back, being passive. Giving a good account so far.

Frustrating not to win but
at 16:00 5 Jan 2025

It is a good point. Fulham are a very good side and we basically gave them two goals today. Should be encouraged rather than deflated. We continue to improve week on week. Need the Phillips/Cajuste pivot asap though.

You can see the progression from Arsenal
at 21:17 30 Dec 2024

We've used the ball much better on our transitions and counter attacks, picked the right options and then taken the chances. Almost everything we got wrong at Arsenal we've got right tonight. I know it's not finished but worth noting. We should all be proud of this team.

Comparing the table after 15 games year on year
at 10:20 9 Dec 2024

Let's assume that (rather generously...) everyone from 14th down in the current table has a chance of getting relegated.

23/24 after 15 games:

14. Palace - 16 Points(Finished on 49pts)
15. Bournemouth - 16 Points(Finshed on 48pts)
16. Everton - 12 Points(Finished on 40pts)
17. Forest - 9 Points(Finished on 32pts)
18. Luton - 9 Points(Finished on 26pts)
19. Burnley - 7 Points(Finished on24pts)
20. Sheff U - 7 Points(Finished on 16pts)

24/25 after 15 games:

14. West Ham - 15 Points
15. Everton - 14 Points
16. Leicester - 14 Points
17. Palace - 13 Points
18. Ipswich - 9 Points
19. Wolves - 9 Points
20. Southampton - 5 Points

Draw your own conclusions but looks relatively similar to last year, so even though our start feels bad and it's clear we need to start picking up wins to have any hope, nobody other than Southampton is doing comparatively worse - wonder if they will get less than Sheff Utd finished on.

Also interesting when you look at Bournemouth/Forest who struggled last year and then stabilized and now are miles away from what they had before. Forest are already on 25 points this season - they only got 32 all season last time!

Definitely plenty more points up for grabs, and you can see the difference a run can make with Palace and Bournemouth in particular picking up lots of points towards the back end of the season. It's a tough ask, but if we've learnt anything over the past two years, it's that this team and manager won't give up.

H Clarke has been solid and had a good game. Broadhead looks sharp and raring to go. Greaves has slotted back in. We're at home again at the weekend. Football isn't everything.

Next 4 Fixtures...
at 09:49 25 Nov 2024

All games are important and as we know the team deal on a game at a time basis so not necessarily as significant as they feel, but it does feel after the next four we will either see this forum in meltdown or saying we will win the league - predictions?

Nottingham Forest (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
AFC Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)

I think we will beat both Palace and Bournemouth here, and would like to see a win out of the other two.

Phil Parkinson appointed at Wrexham

Don't know if many of you are following Wrexham since the takeover - as a big It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fan, I am - they have just appointed Phil Parkinson as boss. A massive coup for National League, expect them to make waves in the next couple of years.
