| News Comment | Ashton Confirmed as Town CEO at 16:58:35
I don't think we can complain in all honesty. This is the first person with an actual experience of running and growing a football club we've had in well over a decade. Bristol City has grown significantly as a club in the time Ashton was in charge and he is a savvy and decisive. Their transfer business is impressive considering the funds they've generated for players who've gone on to do very little since leaving them (Webster arguably cream of the crop) and they've reinvested funds into replacements who could go on to do the same in a few years time. Building a relationship with Cook will be key. |

If only Sears had let it run for Judge who the pass was originally intended for. Could have been a simple tap-in for us to fudge up instead of a tame effort from distance... |
| News Comment | Town Targeting Two at 14:15:31
One is obviously McGhee but I hope we are looking at a winger too, I'd like Will Buckley or Dean Cox. Both are very polished players that would add a lot to the squad. Cox is perhaps the best player in both League 1 and 2. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Delighted to Have Options at 19:26:22
I'd roll with Bart, Emmanuel, Chambers, Berra, Knudsen, Fraser, Skuse, Douglas, Maitland-Niles, Murphy and McGoldrick. Sears hasn't done anything particularly wrong (finishing needs to be better but that comes back when the season gets into full swing) and McGoldrick is playing superbly the threat he was before his injury. Sears can be more dangerous from the bench than from the start. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Coke Signing at 18:24:12
Got some stick from Wednesday fans that he's the worst player on their squad. I referenced the likes of Chambers, Skuse, McGoldrick and Murphy being described similarly. He will be a good squad player and he's a big, stocky lad who likes to drive forward and isn't afraid of a tackle from what I've seen. Will be useful if only used infrequently. |
| News Comment | Town Close to Signing Danish Left-Back at 23:57:32
Fills a need and with our track record for full back he'll be worth £20 million in a few years time. In all seriousness, should he sign he will add competition to a position that is lacking and welcome addition. |
| Blog Comment | Is This Our Year? at 19:11:37
Play-offs again would be a fantastic achievement. Top half would be my bet considering the quality in the league with the likes of Derby, Middlesborough, Fulham getting stronger. Hull, QPR and Burnley coming down and Bristol City, Preston and MK Dons coming up. A lot of strong teams in the division this year, will be tough to repeat last years efforts, not impossible though. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: New Additions Closer at 17:32:35
Douglas from Brentford has been told he's got no future with the club, he's 33 but would be a great squad player to have. Josh Vela was linked yesterday, he can play at the back and in midfield. I think Coke will be signed, not sure about Toure. Guthrie is still around without a club. I can't see Jonny Williams coming back and it's a risk with his fitness if you ask me. A full back, a centre midfielder or two and a winger would be ideal. I wish we could have kept Ando he could have played a full back easily as well as in midfield. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Admits Transfer Frustrations at 21:08:08
There's two ways of looking at this. The first being that we've got a few million from the Mings transfer in the bank to spend on improving the squad with more high profile players than we've been used to in previous years. The second sees the money be reinvested in the club and we continue to go down the route we have been with minimal spending. Now if that means the likes of Benyu, Bishop, McDonnell, Clarke and others to progress and be given a chance then I'm all for that. That being said the squad is lacking in depth in certain areas particularly midfield and defense. I think 3 signings, including Coke, would be enough but we don't need to go out and spend ridiculous money. Jonny Williams as good as he is, is probably a stretch too far and his fitness is a worry for me despite his undoubted talent. Wilkinson from Stoke could be an option at full back, I'd look at bringing Anderson back if he would agree to cover at full back. |
| News Comment | Reading 2-1 Town at 18:47:43
I didn't expect us to get the maximum points in this game and I'm very pleased to see that we had some control in the game despite not picking up the 3 points or holding out for a draw. Reading are a strong side and I think we should be pleased to lose by just the one goal (which was deflected). There are some encouraging signs to take into future games after what was a tough away game to start on. We haven't got our full strength squad as Cresswell was absent who I'm sure would have started otherwise and it'll take a bit of time for some of the new players to settle in. Keep your heads up lads COYB!! |
| News Comment | Lee Nets Winner for U21s Against Colchester at 19:41:59
Another cheap and cheerful signing. Surely better than Stern John? Was a bargain the last time we bought him. Not expecting the same results but he's a good player to have in the squad. Would rather have Alan Lee on a free than another Tamas Priskin for nearly £2 million. We need a brute up top. Murphy is a big lad but Lee is stacked. |
